Known for its mesmerizing, acrobatic performance, Cirque du Soleil brings one of its best efforts to the Walt Disney World® Resort in the form of La Nouba™. The show gets its original name from the French phrase “faire la nouba,” which means to party or to live it up, and this show accomplishes just that with a mixture of two groups of characters, the lively Cirques (circus people) and the Urbains (urbanites). As these two worlds clash together, everyone in the almost 1,700-seat theatre is kept in laughter and on the edge of their seat for the entire performance wondering what spectacle might happen next!
La Nouba™ by Cirque du Soleil® is one of six resident shows for Cirque du Soleil, and its everyday home at Downtown Disney® right in the heart of Central Florida is actually the first-ever permanent building built just for this show. This unique structure is only enhanced by what takes place on the inside, however, which includes nine different acts that integrate whimsical characters, music, acting, choreography and acrobatics that entertain guests for the duration of the show.
After a parade of characters during the opening of the show, the performers take to the stage, among them high-flying trapeze artists and a 90-feet long high wire act that is suspended above several stories. Cyclists also entertain the crowd with BMX-worthy performances and tricks, while a balancing act will leave you stunned. But perhaps the most entertaining act, and always one of the biggest crowd-pleasers at the show, is the four pint-sized performers who perform tricks with diablos, two sticks that are linked by a string with a wooden spool that bounces and flies through the air the entire time with amazing precision!
La Nouba™ by Cirque du Soleil® performances are held at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. every Tuesday through Saturday, with no performances on Sundays and Mondays.
