Walt Disney World ® is gearing up for Disney/Pixar’s newest animated film “Brave,” which opens Friday, June 22 with plenty of meet-and-greet opportunities and “brave” new fun to help park guests get excited about the new movie.

Last month, Best of Orlando announced that the film’s fiery and adventurous main character, Merida would begin making meet-and-greet appearances at Fairytale Garden in Magic Kingdom ® later in the month. The new meet-and-greet experience, which is now available for “Brave” fans, gives guests the opportunity to take part in some of Merida’s favorite sports like learning how to shoot a bow and arrow with archery lessons and other fun family-friendly activities while you wait to meet Disney’s newest character.

And in true Disney ® fashion, the new Merida meet-and-greet isn’t the only “Brave” fun guests will be able to enjoy during their time at Disney World®. If you plan on visiting Epcot ®, you’ll also be able to take part in the excitement of the new Disney/Pixar movie.

Now through July 8 Epcot ® will serve as the setting for Brave – the Highland Games Tournament, a kid-focused area that will offer games like Mini Caber Toss, Cake Toss, Haggis Flip and archery. Kids will also delight in a play area that has been appropriately labeled the Training Ground for the games. And parents will enjoy their own “Brave” fun too with plenty of tents set up on the perimeter offering shade for the hot summer days and free Wi-Fi.

The “Brave” fun starts when kids first spin the wheel to find out which of the four families from the movie “Brave” they will become apart of: MacGuffin, Dingwall, Macintosh or DunBroch. Once you know which family you are now a part of, you’ll receive clan “crests” (buttons) to wear and take home.

From there it’s off to archery class where Disney ® cast members will teach children how to aim a rubber-tipped arrow at the target. Your child will get one shot before moving on to the Haggis Flip (where kids pound mallets onto devices that launch bean bags into baskets), Cake Toss (bean bag toss), and Mini Caber Toss (log throwing).

There is also a giant sand sculpture of Merida with her bow and arrow and other characters from “Brave” that makes for a great photo op with your kids.

Brave – The Highland Games Tournament is located on the Rose Walk (right where Future World blends into World Showcase), from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., daily and is included in regular Epcot ® admission.

You can experience “Brave’s” adventurous red-head Merida at Magic Kingdom ® and the Brave – Highland Games Tournament at Epcot ® with Magic Your Way Park Hopper Ticket right here on Best of Orlando.
