Fun Spot America Adds New Thrills with a $25M Expansion!

Just three months ago, Fun Spot Attractions in Orlando held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of its 10-acre expansion and re-branding. Now, months into construction, the new expansion will consist of two phases and the end result will include bigger and better rides, new architecture and even a water park, a $25M project.

“This new 10-acre expansion is going to change everything. It’s our baby,” said John Arie, Sr., Fun Spot C.E.O. and owner, during the ceremony.

Phase 1 of the expansion will add two new roller coasters, a 2,000+ foot White Lightening wooden one and the 1,200+ foot Chance Ride’s Vekoma suspended family steel coaster as well as a 250-foot-tall SkyCoaster, which will be the second largest in the world, dozens of amusement rides, a new multi-level go-kart track, a 50-foot tall Statue of Liberty and even a new name – Fun Spot America. Well underway, the first phase of the expansion is scheduled to be complete in March of this year.

Phase II will reportedly include the addition of a water park, which will feature at least 9 attractions, including innovative slide concepts like the Double Bowls Eye, 360 Rush, and Splash Rally. The water park promises to be a “one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, signature waterpark.” In addition to the slides will be a 220-foot tall Windseeker ride, several smaller thrill rides and ‘Kid Spot’ area. No word yet on when the water park will be complete.

The expansion will also include a new parking lot to fit all of the guests that are sure to experience the new Fun Spot America, a new entrance building and new food options.

“…I think you will be surprised by just how much of an upgrade we are constructing. We will have two very nicely designed buildings, one at the entry and an 8,000 sq. ft restaurant facility with the SkyCoaster launch on top. We've worked many months with our architects (ACI - who did the Peabody Hotel expansion) to design some very attractive, themed structures. We've also worked with Foster Conant, our landscape architects, to create a well designed, much more lush, park-like setting than we've had in the past. We have a lot of theming planned for the park as well…” said Patrick Tuten, Creative Director of Fun Spot Attractions.

Fun Spot Attractions is currently a 5-acre park with four multi-level go-kart tracks, seven thrill rides, and eight Kid’s attractions.
