On October 15, 2011 LEGOLAND Florida opened its doors to enthusiastic LEGO fans with its more than 50 rides, shows and attractions in over 10 themed areas. Just eight months later the Winter Haven theme park opened LEGOLAND Water Park and now LEGOLAND Florida has announced that it will build a 152-room hotel on its property by 2015.
In true LEGOLAND style, LEGOLAND Florida executives shoveled a ceremonial scoop of LEGO bricks where the hotel will be built to make the anticipated announcement this past Thursday. The hotel will be located directly to the left of LEGOLAND Florida’s entrance, just steps from Lake Eloise.
“The opening of a LEGOLAND Hotel will transition LEGOLAND Florida from a single-day visit theme park to a multi-day resort destination,” said Jones. “This will serve as a catalyst for future economic development in Polk County.”
As an extension of the theme park experience, the brightly colored four-story hotel will immerse families in all things LEGO. The LEGO-themed hotel will feature 152 colorful and themed rooms and suites, LEGO décor, interactive play areas, a pool and a restaurant. It is expected to draw in more visitors for longer stays in Winter Haven.
"This shifts us from a single day visit to a multi-day destination," said Adrian Jones, the general manager.
The LEGOLAND Florida hotel will be the fifth LEGOLAND hotel in the world. There is currently a LEGO-themed hotel in California, England and Denmark. Another is under construction in Malaysia.
According to renderings of the hotel, the four-story Florida lodging will look similar to the one in Carlsbad, California, but Jones said the new hotel will be more innovative and have several different features for LEGO fans.
Stay tuned for more details on the new LEGOLAND Florida hotel.
