If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing one of Mannheim Steamroller’s Christmas specials imagine hearing your favorite holiday song on steroids! Mannheim Steamroller takes classic Christmas songs like Deck the Halls
and pumps them up, turning it into a rocking electronic version through the use of a keyboard, electric bass and synthesizers.
Mannheim Steamroller got their start in 1984 when Chip Davis, founder of the multi-platinum selling group released his first holiday album, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas
. The album took Yuletide favorites and turned them into modern contemporary interpretations that immediately got the attention of both music lovers and Christmas enthusiasts. Davis then gathered a few of his classically trained musician friends and spread his holiday cheer for Mannheim’s very first Christmas tour.
Since the release and success of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas
the band has put out16 more Christmas albums and compilations, including the popular Christmas Song and 2008’s Christmasville featuring the music of How The Grinch Stole Christmas
Mannheim Steamroller continues to tour the country beginning in November every year to spread the holiday cheer with rock versions of such Christmas songs as Joy to the World, Carol of the Bells, Hallelujah, Deck the Halls, The Little Drummer, Do You Hear What I Hear
and much more. To date the group is still ranked as one of the best selling tours in the music business today and beginning Dec. 1 you can get into the holiday spirit with a live performance at Universal Studios!
You can catch the powerful instrumental group at the Music Plaza stage eight nights this year, up from six last year. Performance nights are Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23.
