New Features, Design and Tech Announced for MagicBands 2

MagicBands 2 will have a new design and features

Walt Disney World’s Magic Bands are getting an update. During the D23 Destination D event last month, the Orlando theme park announced the MagicBand 2, a newer, more technologically advanced version of the original MagicBands.

MagicBand 2 will feature a new design for the band itself. The design will help guests make the band more versatile and customizable. While it is definitely convenient to wear the MagicBands around your wrist, the new MagicBands 2 will give guests the option to wear it somewhere else. The middle disc, known as the ICON is removable and you will be able to attach to accessories other than the band like lanyards, keychains etc. When the new MagicBands are released a whole new lines of accessories will also be unveiled. Each accessory will come with the tiny screwdriver that is required to remove the MagicBand ICON.

Disney’s Magic Kingdom will be even more convenient with MagicBands 2

As with the current MagicBands, the new MagicBands 2 can be linked to My Disney Experience, allowing guests to gain admission, make purchases and redeem FastPass+ reservations.

The MagicBand 2 will be mailed to Walt Disney World annual pass holders starting this month. In January 2017, resort guests will start to receive the new MagicBands. Around the same time the retail versions will be released, along with new accessories.

Stay tuned for more details about the new MagicBands 2. In the meantime you can still use your current MagicBands on your next Disney trip with discounted tickets right here on BestofOrlando.com!
