SeaWorld Orlando has hosted multiple Pokémon Go meetups for fans and guests

In the short while that it has been an app, Pokémon Go has created a craze amongst Pokémon fans and non-fans alike. It has taken over sidewalks, parks, museums, restaurants and just about any establishment you can think of. If you’ve noticed people walking around aimlessly while looking into their cell phones they are probably playing Pokémon Go.

So now the big question is, how can you play Pokémon Go, while still enjoying an Orlando theme park? Here are 5 tips to get all of the Pokémon and stay safe while doing it!

In case you aren’t familiar with Pokémon Go, it is an app for smart phones that uses “augmented reality.” While users hold their phones, the app uses the phone’s camera, which looks as if you’re about to take a picture except there is a character that appears on screen immersing you into a different reality. Players follow a map on their phone, which synchs with Google maps.

Busch Gardens Tampa is a hot spot of Pokémon action

1. Go to theme park meetups – It’s hard to imagine there could be more going on at a theme park than there already is, but Pokémon Go has made that possible. In addition to Orlando theme park’s many rides, shows and attractions, you can now catch Pokémon Go at Walt Disney WorldSeaWorld OrlandoBusch Gardens TampaUniversal Studios Orlando and more.

2. Stock up on Pokéballs – Places like SeaWorld Orlando have over 25 Pokéstops throughout the park, making it easy to stock up on Pokéballs. Main Street USA in Disney’s Magic Kingdom is another great spot to stock up. Pokéballs are essential in catching all of the Pokémon you want so find a spot to grab some.

3. Catch Pokémon on Rides – At Walt Disney World there are several rides where you can catch Pokémon. Spaceship Earth has several Pokéstops, including the Baobab Tree, some of the animal exhibits and even the Termite Tower. There is even a gym near the end of this ride.

4. Remember to Charge Up – If you’re a serious Pokémon Go player you’ll probably need some extra juice to keep you playing all day. Some of the parks have recently added cell phone charging stations so you can take a quick break before catching them all!

5. Don’t go where you’re not supposed to – Always be on the lookout for Pokémon but don’t forget to also be on the lookout for restricted or abandoned areas. In general be aware of your surroundings, especially people. Not everybody is in to Pokémon Go so watch out!
