The action packed Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stun Show will close April 2, 2016

With the massive expansion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and construction on the new Star Wars and Toy Story Lands there are a lot of changes happening at the park, including ride and attraction closures. Unfortunately these are necessary to make room for the upcoming lands Disney’s Hollywood Studios hopes to open in 2017. Let’s take a look at what’s closing and what’s replacing it:

Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show – The popular stunt show Lights, Motors, Action! will show off its daring car rides, thrilling explosives and daring stunt men one last time before permanently closing on April 2, 2016. The stunt show area will be used for the upcoming Star Wars expansion.

Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure – The interactive kid’s playground, home to larger-than-life props from the hit movie, “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” will close for good on April 2, 2016. Like the Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show the play area will be removed to make room for Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ expansion. The playground opened in 1990 and has entertained many kids with its 30-foot-tall blades of grass, a massive sniffing dog’s nose and slide made to look like Kodak film.

Mike and Sully Meet and Greet – Everybody’s favorite monsters, Mike and Sully will be greeting their fans one final time before closing on April 2, 2016. The meet-and-greet area located on the Streets of America is themed to look exactly like the warehouse from “Monsters Inc.” where the monsters work to collect screams, and eventually laughs from little kids.

The iconic Earffel Tower will also see its final days in the near future

Earffel Tower – The iconic Earffel Tower will also be coming down this year. The 130-foot-tall water tower structure served as a landmark for the theme park when it first opened.

Writer’s Stop – The bookshop and coffee bar Writer’s Stop will also close its doors this April. Home to fresh-brewed coffee, iced drinks and tasty pastries the Writer’s Stop is often times the spot where celebrity authors would come for book signings. The Writer’s Stop closure is also a part of the new Star Wars and Toy Story land expansion.

Other recent closures at Disney’s Hollywood Studios include meet-and-greets for “Cars” and “Phineas and Ferb” as well as the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights on the Streets of America in January.
