Splash Mountain Down for Refurbishment through Mid-November

Splash Mountain will be closed for refurbishments through mid-November

While you never want your favorite ride to shut down for refurbishments, sometimes it’s just what they need to continue to be your favorite. Walt Disney World has a continual list of rides, shows and attractions that close down for periods of time to undergo routine maintenance. And this fall you’ll have to go without splashing through one of Magic Kingdom’s most popular rides.

It was announced in April that Splash Mountain would close on August 28 for a lengthy three-month refurbishment, reopening on November 17, 2017.

No word yet on what the refurbishments includes but we’re guessing some of the animatronics will be getting updated. Animatronic work typically takes a bit longer, which in this case would explain the three-month closure.

The last refurbishment of Splash Mountain was in 2014.

Stay tuned for more details on the maintenance. So what can you do while you wait for Splash Mountain to reopen? Lots! Magic Kingdom certainly isn’t short in the entertainment department. Plus, this fall the park hosts the annual Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The afterhours special event invites guests to dress in their best Halloween garb, go trick-or-treating, experience Magic Kingdom’s most popular rides and enjoy not-so-spooky entertainment all night long!
