It looks like Walt Disney World’s ® shopping, dining and entertainment destination otherwise known as Downtown Disney ® has struck gold with its newest entertainment option, Splitsville. The bowling alley/eatery combines the family fun of bowling with a nightlife vibe for a unique outing that will satisfy everybody in the family or your party.
Splitsville opened last month in the space that formerly held the Virgin Mega Store, which closed in 2009. Since then, the space has been home to several other attractions and exhibits, most notably a Princess Diana exhibit and the Ridmakerz build-a-car establishment but nothing that has lured in guests in the same way Splitsville has.
The new Splitsville at Downtown Disney ® is the fifth and largest Splitsville in the country with a massive two-level, 50,000 square-foot venue that includes billiard tables, dining tables, bars, a gift shop, a sushi bar and bowling - lots and lots of bowling. It’s next to DisneyQuest near Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba. With a venue so large there is room for more bowling lanes than at ay other Splitsville in the nation, 30 lanes to be exact! And just like everything else in Splitsville, the lanes are not your typical bowling lanes. Instead of standing side-by-side in a firing-range style, Splitsville’s bowling lanes are in clusters of four and six and are “split” up throughout both floors, 10 on the first and 20 on the second.
And while the main attraction at Downtown Disney’s ® new Splitsville will obviously be the bowling, guests will also be able to take breaks from getting strikes and spares and enjoy the rest of Splitsville’s fun like games and an upscale menu of pub grub like Filet Mignon sliders, 12 different kinds of sushi, seven varieties of pizza and much more.
So far Splitsville may not sound that different from a regular bowling alley, where you can both bowl and order food. It’s when you throw in a DJ, not one but five bars, TVs mounted between lanes so you never miss a second of the big game, a “lane concierge” who delivers your bowling ball and shoes, and a retro chic atmosphere that puts you smack dab in the middle of the 1950’s that you know you’re in one of the most exciting bowling alleys in the country. Plus, Splitsville makes sure both families and partygoers have a place in the huge venue with the downstairs area always catering to kids and parents and the upstairs area that becomes a 21-and-over-nightclub after a certain time.
Whether you’re an expert bowler or more of a ball-in-the-gutter kind of player, there is plenty to see and do at Splitsville in Downtown Disney ®. So get the family together or find a date and enjoy a night you won’t forget!
