Trick ‘r Treat and The Purge at Universal’s HHN 27

One of the thrills of Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights is the fact that guests cannot escape the horror. No area is safe thanks to the many scare zones. They are the first thing you will come in contact with and Universal is making sure they are as scary as possible.

This year, the Orlando theme park invites you to celebrate in the blood, guts and gore during what they are calling the Festival of the Deadliest. The park has gathered some of the most hellish, sadistic and unholy creatures from your nightmares and put them all in one place and it is up to you to dodge them as you walk from haunted house to haunted house.

The heart of the festival is on the streets of Hollywood at Universal Studios and includes the following scare zones:

Trick ‘r Treat
Universal invites you to learn the rules of Halloween in the Trick ‘r Treat scare zone. Based on the 2007 film that incorporates Halloween traditions and the infamous “Sam,” this maze is sure to have you following the rules in no time.

The Purge
A returning favorite, The Purge scare zone comes to the streets of New York with the famous auction. Universal has also freshens this zone up with a clean-up crew complete with a wood chipper to get rid of the bodies in the streets. Don’t stand too close!

Altars of Horror
Near the front gate of the park, on Avenue of the Stars, guess will be welcomed to the event by some of this year’s characters found in the many haunted houses.

Invasion!
The docks in San Francisco will be invaded by alien scientists who are on the hunt for bodies for their “grotesque human experiments” as they try to destroy Earth.

Festival of the Deadliest
Walk amongst a “ghastly collection of madmen and monsters” in this maze.

Roaming Hordes
You can’t visit a Halloween Horror Nights without bumping into a roaming horde. This year, the undead will show you just how scary clowns can really be when a grotesque gang of gigglers rises from the grave to bring you your worst nightmare yet.

Halloween Horror Nights will have nine haunted houses, four of which have already been announced. The known mazes include The Shining, American Horror Story, Saw and Ash vs. Evil Dead. The event will also include two live shows – the farewell performance of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure and the return of the Academy of Villains with an all-new production. The show will make you bear witness to what happens after we leave this life in a shocking dance performance.

The after-hours event runs September 15 through November 4. You can find discounted tickets to Halloween Horror Nights here on Best of Orlando.
