It’s going to be a very “Harry” Christmas at Universal Orlando. The Orlando theme park is celebrating Christmas at both sides of Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The festivities will kick off on November 18 and continue through January 6, 2018. The special features will be included with general admission to the parks.
The highlight of the holiday celebrations will take place at Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure. Each evening during the celebration, Universal will use special effects to project holiday-inspired imagery across the iconic castle.
In addition to the nighttime show, the boulevards and shops of Hogsmead and Diagon Alley’s London streetscape will be decorated in Christmas decor.
Specialty holiday food, drinks and entertainment will also be available, which will hopefully include the popular hot version of Butterbeer.
Universal Orlando is also revamping its holiday parade, including a name change to Universal’s Holiday Parade Featuring Macy’s. According to Universal it will include new balloons and floats representing Universal and DreamWorks franchises such as Despicable Me, Shrek and Madagascar.
If you’re a fan of Mannheim Steamroller and Universal’s annual Grinchmas festivities, have no fear. Those will return to this year’s celebrations. The Grinch and his dog Max will be located in a temporary Whoville at Seuss Landing. The Grinchmas Holiday Spectacular will include a musical retelling of the TV classic as well as meet-and-greets with The Grinch himself. Mannheim Steamroller will perform in concert on select dates during the seasonal event.
The all-new holiday celebrations will go through January 6, making it the longest holiday celebration in Universal Orlando’s history.
