The Walt Disney World Marathon runs through the Disney parks January 8. Whether you’re planning to run it or just be there to cheer on your friends and family, Best of Orlando has come up with the perfect guide to keeping the magic going long after you’ve logged the miles.
First of all January is the perfect time to visit Walt Disney World. The weather is mild and crowds are relatively low after the busyness of the holiday season. The park doesn’t have a ton of events going on just yet, but this actually makes it an excellent time to relax and take in the many rides, shows and attractions, especially after a marathon.
Since all races begin and end in Epcot it only makes sense to stick around the park and enjoy a day around the world. You will need a ticket to get in but this can easily be purchased in advance. The new Epcot Arts Festival begins the week after the marathon but you can still watch as the park gears up for all of the artwork and new culinary masterpieces. Epcot is also a great park to grab a celebratory post-race drink!
If you’re looking to see a little more of Disney a 3-day pass or park-hopper pass is the way to go. Florida residents can enjoy a 3-or 4-day pass, allowing you to make a week out of your marathon. The park-hopper lets you take in all of the magic in one day if you want and, depending on how many days you choose, come back the next day and do it all over again!
Happy running and we hope to see you at one of the parks afterwards. You can always find discounted Walt Disney World tickets right here on Best of Orlando.
