If you are looking for action-packed thrills, one-of-a-kind adventures and spectacular attractions that you won’t find anywhere else, Central Florida is the perfect place for your next vacation destination! Sure, Orlando is known for its family-friendly entertainment options, but did you know that Central Florida is also home to some of the best roller coasters in the entire world? Or that the City Beautiful has a number of multi-million dollar attractions that are in fact still being built to lure visitors to what is already one of the largest tourist destinations in the world?
As we mentioned above, Orlando has a number of high-flying coasters in town at the various theme parks, many of which can’t even crack the Top 10 that we have featured here. The Universal Orlando Resort has three of these top coasters alone including the Incredible Hulk Coaster, Revenge of the Mummy and the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
. Although each revolves around high speeds, they are uniquely different in their themes and offer guests totally different experiences from one another. The same can be said for the Rock ‘n Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith, which stands apart as the best roller coaster at the Walt Disney World ® Resort with its 0 to 60 mph blast-off and rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack that guests listen to as they zip along the indoor track.
Rock ‘n Roller Coaster® may be the top attraction at the Walt Disney World ® Resort, but it is far from being the only ride at the Walt Disney World ® Theme Parks that draws large crowds. In fact, there are two other roller coasters that are part of the Walt Disney World ® famous mountain range that rank among the Top 10 rides in Orlando, and each couldn’t be more different. Space Mountain ® was one of the first coasters on property and is an indoor coaster that travels through “space,” while Expedition Everest ® is the newest roller coaster on property that takes guests through a recreation of the Himalayas in search of the Abominable Snowman! Finally, the Kilimanjaro Safaris ®, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom ® Theme Park, is another signature ride that takes guests through over 100 acres of African terrain to come face-to-face with animals like they never have before!
Just as the Kilimanjaro Safaris ® make the Top 10 despite not being a roller coaster, one other ride at Universal’s Islands of Adventure also makes the cut due to its innovation to the theme park industry. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is a 3-D adventure that follows Spider-Man as he tries to recapture the stolen Statue of Liberty from the evil Sinister Syndicate. As if that wasn’t enough action and thrills for one vacation, there are two more coasters that rank among the Top 10 – one at Sea World Orlando (Manta) and another at nearby Busch Gardens in Tampa (Sheikra), both of which brought firsts to the roller coaster scene. Manta actually raises passengers up so that they are horizontal to the track as they fly face-down through the sky, while Sheikra was the first dive machine roller coaster in America, taking passengers up 200 feet… and down at a 90 degree angle!
As you can clearly tell, Central Florida has it all – thrills, themed rides and tons of unique attractions that you won’t find anywhere else in the world! If the Top 10 is any indication, just imagine what the rest of the attractions have to offer!
