Description
Many of the resorts at the Walt Disney World ® Resort clearly have a distinct “Disney magic” feel to them, putting you and your family in the middle of the “Disney magic” even when you are not in a theme park. But there are some resorts that transport you to a whole different world, such as the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, which are individual replicas of log cabins situated among the lush cypress and pine tree-filled 700 acres of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort have all the rustic charm of the American frontier with all of the amenities of home. While each 500-square-feet cabin (there are 409 in all) is set in a peaceful and tranquil environment on the outside, the inside is just as cozy. Wood panels line the walls, while wood-beamed ceilings, gingham-style curtains, chairs that look like they are made from tree branches and Indian-style rugs greet guests upon first entrance to the main living area, which also has a couch, full kitchen (don’t worry, housekeeping will even do your dishes!) and a table and chairs. A full bath and a bedroom with a single bed and a set of bunk beds complete the interior of the cabins, which, in all, can sleep six people (there is also a Murphy bed that pulls down from the wall in the living area). Each cabin also features its own parking space, a private patio, picnic table and charcoal grill.
While the cabins themselves may be their own little home-away-from-home, there are plenty of other amenities on the Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort property that add to the experience of guests choosing to stay here. Nestled along the shores of Bay Lake (and complete with its own white sand beach and marina), the Disney Fort Wilderness Resort has a host of recreation activities, including bike and watercraft rentals, pony rides for children, two community pools, carriage, wagon and horseback rides, a nightly campfire sing-a-long with Chip ‘N Dale followed by a Disney movie showing, fishing excursions and much more! This area also features the Settlement Trading Post (which features grocery items, camping supplies and souvenirs), the Meadow Trading Post (home to similar items and a deli), Crockett’s Tavern (full-service bar with appetizers and pizza) and the Trail’s End Restaurant (an all-you-can-eat breakfast, lunch and dinner country-style cooking eatery). Two popular dinner shows also reside here – the seasonal Mickey’s Backyard BBQ with Mickey, Minnie and the gang, and the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, a rousing musical act following the Pioneer Hall Players while dining on family-style favorites that is considered by many to be the top dinner show on property.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort may be tucked back into seclusion from the hustle and bustle of the Walt Disney World ® Theme Parks, but it is still only two miles from the Magic Kingdom ® Park, and guests can venture there either by boat or motor coach transportation – just another reason why the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are a good choice for your next Walt Disney World ® vacation!
