Busch Gardens Tampa held site tours today for the new thrill coaster Cobra’s Curse. The tours included the latest updates on the ride that will take those who dare on a forward, backward and spinning journey high above Tampa Bay. Here’s what we know so far:
The tour included a walk through of the construction site where we were able to see where the ride will start and how it will take guests on its spinning adventure that is for just about everyone, as the ride requirements are only 42 inches!
As guests gear up to be cursed they will walk through Cobra Curse’s queue, which is filled with four species of live snakes. No word yet on what the species will be, but the adventure doesn’t end there! In addition to the snakes, guests will also enjoy the interactive and air conditioned queue, where guests can solve the mystery of the snake king.
The ride begins with a climb up the 70-foot-tall elevator lift. The moment you hit the top the curse begins as ride vehicles turn to the left, bank outwards and begin spinning backwards. As the ride vehicle careens backwards riders will come close to the 80-foot-tall statue of Venymyss, the snake king. After traveling backwards for quite some time, the ride unlocks its trains and riders begin to free spin. The free spinning takes you into a giant turn before the grand finale.
Quite a bit of Cobra’s Curse’s track is laid down but the park still has plenty to do before it’s opening this summer. The ride’s color scheme is red, yellow and green matching the colors of many garter snakes.
The addition of Cobra’s Curse is sure to solidify Busch Gardens Tampa as the most thrilling theme park in the country. The park already has the largest and most thrilling collection of roller coasters in Florida, including 5 top rated coasters, and with Cobra’s Curse thrill seekers will have met their match with the 8th coaster to hit the park. Cobra’s Curse will join the rest of Busch Gardens Tampa’s coaster family including Montu, which offers seven intense inversions; Kumba, where guests will feel weightless during the 3 seconds in the dive loop; Sheikra, the thrilling floorless coaster; Cheetah Hunt, the triple launch coaster that lets you experience what it’s like to be a cheetah on the hunt and the new Falcon’s Fury, which plummets 300 feet at 60 miles per hour! Stay tuned for more details on Cobra’s Curse. In the meantime you can catch a thrill on one of Busch Gardens other coasters with discounted tickets right here on Best of Orlando.
