Walt Disney World is one of the top vacation destinations in the world and with the My Disney Experience app, your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth can be even better! A lot is possible with the free Disney app, but we’re sharing five features you need to know about before your next Walt Disney World vacation.
My Disney Experience’s latest feature is the Car Locator. After a long day in the parks, the last thing you want to worry about is where you parked, right? Presented by State Farm, this complimentary feature uses Location Services to find and save your parking details! Once you’ve parked at the Walt Disney World park of your choice, simply open the My Disney Experience app and scroll down until you see “Car Locator.” Click “Save Vehicle Location” to document your location, and you’re ready for the park day ahead! There’s even an option to add your location information manually if you don’t have your location services turned on.
Merchandise Mobile Checkout
Shopping in the parks is fun, but standing in a long checkout line isn’t. With Merchandise Mobile Checkout, you can save yourself the trouble of those long lines by checking out right in the My Disney Experience app! Merchandise Mobile Checkout is available in select stores in all four theme parks and Disney Springs. If you’re visiting the Emporium at Magic Kingdom, Creations Shop and Treasure of Xandar at EPCOT, Mickey’s of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Discovery Trading Company or Island Mercantile at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or World of Disney at Disney Springs, you’ll want to keep this feature in mind!
Just select the “Merchandise Mobile Checkout” button in the My Disney Experience app and select which eligible store location you’re currently shopping in. Scan the barcode of each item and when you’re finished tap “checkout” to pay with your phone through the app. Once you’re done paying, have your QR code ready to show a Cast Member before you exit the store. If you need a shopping bag for your purchases, they’ll take care of that, too! The best part is that the My Disney Experience will account for any discounts you may have as an Annual Passholder, Cast Member, or Disney Vacation Club Member.
Mobile Food Orders
Mobile ordering snacks and quick service meals is one of the biggest time savers at Walt Disney World resort! With Mobile Order locations in all four parks, Disney Springs, both waterparks, and several of the Disney Resort Hotels, this is the most convenient way to grab a quick bite on property. Since mobile orders can be scheduled well before an arrival window time, making a future Mobile Food Order is a great way to pass the time in line while waiting to ride an attraction! Here’s how your make a Mobile Order at Walt Disney World resort:
Start by opening the My Disney Experience app and selecting the “Mobile Food Orders” button. You’ll be asked to choose an arrival window, so select the quick service location and time slot that works best for you. From there you can peruse the menu adding anything that catches your eye to your cart. If your order looks correct, click “Review Order Summary.” Choose your payment type and click “purchase” to complete your transaction. From there, you’ll wait for your arrival window time frame to open and then you’ll press “I’m Here” to let the Cast Members at the quick service location know to start making your meal. Once your order is ready you’ll be directed to a window number to pick up your meal!
Cast Members are such a big part of what makes Walt Disney World the Most Magical Place on Earth! These special people dedicate their time to making your vacation as magical as possible, so why not compliment them when you can? My Disney Experience has made it even easier to acknowledge Cast Member magic thanks to a fairly new feature on the app. Instead of having to trek to the nearest Guest Relations desk or tweet a compliment on Twitter, guests can leave their kind words through the Cast Compliment section of the My Disney Experience app!
Just open the app and scroll until you find “Cast Compliment” near the bottom. From here you’ll identify why you’re sending magic for a Cast Member and the location that this Cast Member interacted with you. To make it even easier for Disney to find your Cast Member, be sure to include their first name and location (which can be found on their name tag). You can also add the date of your interaction, too! These kind words go a long way for these extra special people, so if someone makes your day be sure to acknowledge them through a Cast Compliment! Arguably one of the most important features on the My Disney Experience app is access to attraction wait times. Access accurate wait times for attractions with just a few clicks with the Wait Times section of the app. Click the location icon at the bottom of the screen to access a full map of the parks. From here you can filter to one of more parks you’re interest in looking at wait times for. You can even view them as a list or just visually over the park map.
If you choose list mode, you’ll view all attractions in order from shortest wait time to longest wait time, making it even easier to decide what’s your next move. The Wait Times section even highlights which attractions aren’t open so you won’t make the mistake of visiting them. These wait times populate regularly, so the wait time you see on the app is the same that you’ll find right outside of the attraction. This feature really takes the guesswork out of planning your next attraction to tackle!
As you can see, the My Disney Experience app is a game changer for those trying to have the Best Day Ever at Walt Disney World. While we shared five of our favorite app features, just know there’s plenty of other features to take advantage of on My Disney Experience. So before you hit the parks, be sure to download this free app and make sure you’re logged in to your account – you’ll thank us later!
