An all-new epic adventure is on its way to the Universal Orlando Resort this summer. Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is a brand new, highly themed roller coaster experience coming to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure. During this exciting new journey through the Forbidden Forest we'll encounter strange creatures with magical properties, dangerous plants and much more. Here are some details for the many magical creatures you can expect to find along the way.
Never before seen in the Harry Potter films, the Blast-Ended Skrewt can be described as a cross between a scorpion and a crab, except much, much bigger. During your adventure you'll encounter Skrewts that are up to 8-feet long with tails that stand up to ten-feet high. Oh, and did we mention that they shoot fire from their blasting-ends? Hagrid bred these unique magical creatures himself, and he'll be teaching us more about them during our Care of Magical Creatures class — but, as is usually the case with Hagrid, things do not always go as planned.
With a human top half and a horse's body, the Centaurs are protectors of the forbidden forest. Usually living in herds of 10 to 50, Centaurs are archers and can be seen carrying bows and arrows. During your trip through the forest, be on the lookout for a mysterious 8-foot tall Centaur that may be hiding behind the trees. Be careful though, as these species must be treated with the utmost of respect.
Although the Devil's Snare is technically a plant, it does have a tendency to act very much like a predator. This perilous plant from the wizarding world can capture and strangle those that get too close enough to its dexterous vines. It's possible that you may become entangled in a thicket of it on your journey. Just remember to remain calm, because the more you struggle, the tighter its hundreds of vines will constrict.
These mischievous little blue tricksters may be small, but they can cause a tremendous amount of trouble — especially when swarming together in groups. They've even been known to carry off unsuspecting humans by the ears, (poor Neville). At only 13 inches tall, they can be hard to spot. There will be over 20 Pixies scattered throughout your adventure, including some that have infested the Weasley's flying car. Be on the lookout during the ride and see if you can spot them all!
Fluffy, the Three-Headed Dog
One of the most recognizable creatures along your journey will be Fluffy, Hagrid's three-headed dog, and protector of the Sorcerer’s Stone. Fluffy only has one weakness: he tends to fall asleep at the sound of music. The gigantic, lifelike Fluffy we'll encounter on the ride weighs 8,000 pounds, which is about the weight of two cars. This is one dog you will not want to try and pet, because his bite (and bite and bite) is certainly worse than his bark.
More Fun Along the Way
In addition to all of the amazing creatures we've already talked about, there will be other surprises and creatures as well. Pay attention around the carriages and you may hear the sounds of the unusual Thestrals. Look out for statues of other creatures like the mysterious Merpeople and Grindylows. And keep your ears out for the voices of gnomes that are known to scurry about the grounds. There may even be more magical creatures to encounter!
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opens on June 13th at Universal's Islands of Adventure. It promises to be an unforgettable experience unlike anything else in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and you won't want to miss it!
