Sure, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando serves up the scares, but for 2019, they're also serving up the snacks! With Stranger Things themed treats, Ghostbusters popcorn, and returning favorites like the world-famous Pizza Fries, you better bring your appetite! Here's our guide to this year's best new and returning food and beverage options, at the world's premiere Halloween event!
Ghostbusters Ghost Trap Popcorn
Show the world that you're not afraid of no ghosts with this popcorn bucket inspired by the ghost containment unit from the original Ghostbusters film. Decorated with the memorable yellow and black stripes and filled with "Slimer" green buttered popcorn, this is the perfect snack for your crew while busting ghosts and defeating Gozer!
Starcourt Mall from Netflix’s Stranger Things
These tents located between Monsters Cafe and Finnegan’s are offering up food court favorites from around the world. Enjoy Grilled Street Corn and Nachos Queso Fundidio from the Tex-Mex inspired Ole Amigo. Head to Imperial Panda for a bento box with an Orange Chicken Bao Bun, Szechuan Beef Pot Stickers and fried Wonton Chips, served with ginger soy dipping sauce. Or swing by Hawkins Heroes for a Turkey or Veggie Hero.
Merrill’s Mini Doughnuts and Chocolate Dipped Bacon
For dessert, the Starcourt Mall has got you covered with a selection of chocolate dipped bacon on a stick, along with Pumpkin Patch Mini Donuts. Enjoy eleven, (that's right, eleven) pumpkin mini donuts on a bed of cookie crumbles topped with a spooky frosting drizzle that looks like it's straight from the upside-down.
Triple Decker Waffle Extravaganza
Let's do waffles the way Eleven does them. Located at the San Francisco Bakery, and inspired by the massive stack of waffles from season 2 of Stranger Things, this dish is served with alternating rows of whipped cream and waffles and filled with three kinds of candy pieces. Grab a fork, and maybe a friend, and dig in!
Voodoo Doughnut
Head to Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk for the perfect bite before or after your night of terror. Choose from either the "Run" doughnut with Stranger Things-style X-Mas lights, or the Waffle doughnut filled with maple Bavarian cream and topped with a waffle cone piece.
Pizza Fries
Returning guests may remember Pizza Fries from recent Halloween Horror Nights events, because they've most likely already blown your mind. If you haven't had the pleasure of trying this mouthwatering dish, head to the KidZone Pizza Company as soon as you can for a plate of crispy crinkle-cut fries covered in pepperoni, sausage, and melted mozzarella cheese. It'll have you screaming for more.
S’mores Fries
What's this? The yin to Pizza Fries yang has arrived. That's right, they've somehow managed to make a dessert version of the famous dish! The all-new S’mores Fries feature sweet potato fries, mini-marshmallows, melty chocolate chips and graham cracker crumbs, all drizzled with chocolate syrup.
Twisted Taters
Another favorite that's back from the dead are the tantalizing Twisted Taters. These crispy and savory potato swirls are served on a stick, making them a quick and easy portable snack to grab between haunted houses. They're available with your choice of sour cream & chive, garlic Parmesan, seasoned salt, or salt & vinegar flavors.
Fun Frozen Drinks
These non-alcoholic concoctions can be found at both the Gramercy Popcorn stand and Cafe La Bamba Veranda. "Syrup & Waffles" is a drink inspired by Netflix’s Stranger Things and is flavored with maple syrup and served with tiny waffles on top. The "Candy Corn" slushy is a layered drink made to resemble the classic Halloween candy, with the sweet taste of toasted marshmallow on the bottom and candy corn flavor on the upper layer. It's topped with whipped cream and sprinkles.
Signature Drinks
Need something to wash down all the spooktacular treats? Try one of four signature alcoholic drinks on offer this year, all inspired by classic 1980s beverages. Plus, there are four souvenir cups to collect, with a different version available each week during the event!
Blood Pit – Vodka, blood orange sour, peach schnapps and orange juice
Twilight Gateway – Tequila, watermelon schnapps, pineapple juice, orange juice and grenadine
Vampires Curse – Spiced rum, fruit punch and sour mix
Saturn – Gin, Falernum liqueur, passion fruit puree and sour mix
Halloween Horror Nights is going on now at Universal Studios Florida on select nights through November 2nd. The event features 10 terrifying haunted houses, 5 scare zones, 2 shows and more scares than you can possibly imagine. You don't want to miss it!
