Splash Mountain fans have about a month left to catch one more ride through the briar patch before the ride permanently closes at Walt Disney World. The ride’s last day of operation will be January 22. Guests can check Splash Mountain’s daily availability on the websites and Disney apps.

But fear not,the fun and excitement of the popular ride isn’t going away completely. Instead, Splash Mountain is set to be completely reimagined as a Princess and the Frog attraction. The ride will be unavailable for a while as it gets its new theme. However, the ride is set to reopen as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in late 2024. No exact reopening date has been announced yet.

In Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, riders are taken back to the year 1927, a year after the end of the hit film. In the year since, Tiana has grown into a pillar of the New Orleans community and become its prominent chef. She wants to throw a celebratory party for her friends, but she soon realizes she’s missing the secret ingredient for the dish she will serve. Tiana must head back to the bayou to get the ingredient. Because of this, instead of the Laughing Place, guests will step inside a salt mine dome that the Disney Princess has purchased and turned into Tiana’s Foods.

Not only will the ride bring you in contact with Tiana but many of The Princess and the Frog characters will also return, as will the cast members who portrayed their voices. Bruno Campos will return as Prince Naveen, Michael Leon Wooley will once again voice Louis, Jenifer Lewis will be back as Mama Odie, and Anika Noni Rose will be voicing Princess Tiana again.

The characters will wear outfits that are era-appropriate including Tiana herself, who is getting a new outfit and hairstyle. Tiana’s new hair pays homage to African American women during the era of the movie and is pressed into Marcel waves. Her outfit keeps the signature yellow and green color palette of her character, however toned down a bit.

Music will play a major role in the new ride as it did in the film and in the history of New Orleans. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will incorporate a swinging zydeco music soundtrack.
