Days into the new year and 2022 is shaping up to be the year of roller coasters at Orlando theme parks. Walt Disney World, SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa and LEGOLAND Florida are kicking off the New Year with some big thrills. From dark coasters to revamping old favorites, there will be lots to scream about in the New Year. Here are the top 5 new roller coasters opening in Orlando in 2022:

IceBreaker SeaWorld OrlandoSeaWorld Orlando is kicking off 2022 with quite the thrill thanks to the opening of the park’s first ever launch coaster. Named after the icy Arctic Summits, IceBreaker offers the steepest beyond vertical drop in Florida - a 93 feet tall spike with 100 degree angle. Riders will fly into a series of twists and turns as they hit 52 miles per hour. IceBreaker will be located across from Wild Arctic and is officially opening on February 18 2022.

Iron Gwazi Busch Gardens Tampa Bay - Over at SeaWorld Orlando’s sister park, Busch Gardens Tampa will welcome Iron Gwazi to the thrill park in March 2022. Formerly known as Gwazi, the popular  ride had it’s wooden tracks replaced with a steel track that will allow for more inversions and thrills than ever before. North America’s tallest hybrid coaster and the fastest and steepest hybrid coaster in the world, the crocodile-inspired thrill ride plunges riders from a 206 foot-tall peak into a 91-degree drop, while reaching top speeds of 76 miles per hour. Along the way, riders will scream with delight as Iron Gwazi offers three inversions. Gwazi fans will also get to enjoy restored elements of the popular ride. 

Guardians of the Galaxy - Cosmic Rewind at Epcot - Walt Disney World is taking guests into the galaxy next summer with the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy - Cosmic Rewind coaster at Epcot. Housed in a show building, the ride extends 5,577 feet and will be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world. The storyline will be based on the popular Marvel film series and will use seats designed to pivot and direct passengers to the many scenes that will unfold around them. 

Peppa Pig Theme park at LEGOLAND Florida - LEGOLAND Florida will be adding a whole new theme park with the addition of Peppa Pig park in 2022. Families will be able to enjoy several coasters and attractions including Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster and Muddy Puddles Splash Pad when the world’s first Peppa Pig Theme Park opens in February.

Tron Lightcycle Run at Disney’s Magic Kingdom - Get ready to take a high speed thrill ride through the galaxy with the highly anticipated coaster - Tron Lightcycle Run at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Opening date is expected anywhere from late 2022 to early 2023. The new adventure, which will be located between Tomorrowland Speedway and Storybook Circus in Fantasyland, is a semi-enclosed launched steel motorbike roller coaster attraction. The attraction fully immerses riders into the world of Tron, beginning with the individual lightcycles each rider sits on. Guests begin the ride by entering a huge gravity/show building where they step onto the Grid and board their own lightcycle. Much of the ride is in a darkened show building, but it’s not the dark that makes this ride thrilling. The attraction has a large color-changing canopy above it, making for a dynamic visit into the digital world.
