A new show highlighting different bird species from around the world will be opening at Disney's Animal Kingdom on April 22, 2018. Up! A Great Bird Adventure will feature characters from Disney-Pixar's animated comedy-adventure film Up.

Set at the Caravan Theater in Anandapur village, the new show will star Senior Wilderness Explorer Russell and his furry friend Dug the talking dog. They're on a mission to learn all about exotic birds from around the world in this inspirational and educational free-flying adventure. The show will feature a variety of birds including majestic birds of prey, parrots performing swooping aerial acrobatics over the crowd and much more. There will be "Up" close encounters with these amazing winged creatures everyday!

The show's grand opening date will be on Animal Kingdom's 20th anniversary, April 22, which is Earth Day. In addition to the amazing new show, the park will be celebrating with several all-new experiences throughout Animal Kingdom. Join in the Party for the Planet celebration from April 22 through May 5. This special two-week event will include conservation talks by animal-care experts and chances for guests to participate in enhanced animal interactions.

The opening of Up! A Great Bird Adventure kicks off Walt Disney World's "Incredible Summer," where the resort will be filled with exciting new experiences. Starting Memorial Day at Animal Kingdom you'll be able to join Donald and his friends at Dinoland, U.S.A.. for a dinosaur-themed party. Donald is celebrating the discovery that his bird ancestors were actually dinosaurs! He'll have live DJs and dance parties, plus meet-and-greets with rare characters like Scrooge McDuck, Launchpad McQuack and more.

Up! A Great Bird Adventure will have multiple show times per day beginning April 22, 2018. The new show is replacing "Flights of Wonder" which wrapped up December 31, 2017.
