The Orlando Science Center is ringing in 2014 with Otronicon - Otronicon [(O)rlando Elec(tron)ic (I)nteractive Entertainment (Con)vention], a four-day event celebrating interactive technology using video games to demonstrate the future of how we live, learn, work and play. And if you have the chance to stop by the Center January 17 – 20 you’ll be amazed at what you discover!

While it may sound like a convention just for gamers, Otronicon features something for everyone including larger-than-life video game experiences, state-of-the-art medical and military simulators, workshops taught by industry pros and much more.  Let’s take a closer look at Otronicon 2014:

Video games aren’t just for kids and Otronicon proves that with games the entire family can enjoy like virtual reality, interactive surface tables, next-generation consoles and classic arcade games you loved playing when you were a kid! If you’re a gamer, face off on some of your favorite games in person and test your skills on more than 100 gaming stations in a variety of competition formats. Educators will see how video game technology can help in the classroom while students work with industry-based tools for simulation and game design.

New to this year’s event are several different workshops including Website Development 101 with Jim Powell, Director of Technology at Purple, Rock, Scissors on Friday, Jan. 17; a Battle Room Iteration lead by Ben Crocker, UCF FIEA on Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18; Imaginarium: Mystery on Haida Gwaii with Elaine Rayboum, Advanced Distributed Learning Initative on Saturday, Jan. 18; The Puzzling Part About Puzzles lead by Dusty Hunsaker, UCF FIEA on Saturday, Jan. 18, Sunday, Jan. 19 and Monday, Jan. 20, PhotoMorphing with Krista Nicholson of Elite Academy on Sunday, Jan. 19 and many more.

Gamers, families and educators can all expect demonstrations, experiences and workshops from such exhibitors as Lockheed Martin, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, Microsoft, EA Sports, Florida Hospital and many more.
