Slinky Dog Dash Track Complete

The new Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is coming along nicely. Construction crews hit a milestone earlier this week when the final piece of the track was installed on the land’s signature ride, Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster.

The family-friendly coaster will circumvent the 11-acre expansion that shrinks guests down to the size of a toy and puts them in Andy’s backyard.

"You will zip, dodge and dash around many planned turns and drops that Andy has created to really make Slinky and his coils stretch to the limits," said Kathy Mangum, a Walt Disney Imagineering executive in a statement. "It's a fun and exhilarating family coaster attraction and it will be one that you'll want to do over and over again."

When complete, Slinky Dog Dash’s theme will be as if Andy has built a roller coaster track all over his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit along with some of his favorite toys. Strewn about the area will be a larger-than-life Rex, Jessie, Wheezy, Mr. Spell and Mr. Mike.

The other new ride coming to Toy Story Land is the Alien Swirling Saucers, which is themed after the little green alien toys from the claw machine at Pizza Planet. Riders will spin around while avoiding the claw.

Toy Story Land is expected to open in summer 2018. Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime check out the rest of Hollywood Studios’ new additions with discounted Walt Disney World tickets here on Best of Orlando.
