The second attraction for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has just opened, and I was lucky enough to be one of the first to ride. Combining multiple theme park ride technologies, along with the newest in state-of-the-art special effects, Disney has managed to create a new type of attraction that truly does put you into the middle of the action.

Now open at Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is more than just your everyday ride. Before you even get to the boarding station for the main event there are impressive pre-show elements, a mini-ride you get to do before the ride and a few surprises that will leave you speechless—all before even stepping foot into the main ride vehicle.

Your journey begins when you are recruited by the Resistance to go on a special mission to a new hidden base on a far away planet. It is Rey and the lovable BB-8 droid that give you your mission briefing themselves. Then, in what many in our group found to be a unique and surprising moment, you exit the building into an outdoor courtyard where Poe's X-Wing is preparing to take off along with a shuttle that is set to take us into space.

Not everything goes to plan after our shuttle takes off from Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, (also known as Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge). After a surprise ambush attack on our shuttle, we're captured in a tractor beam and brought onto a Star Destroyer by the First Order. In most situations, this shuttle experience would be a ride just by itself, but after those shuttle doors open revealing a gigantic hangar filled with nearly 50 stormtroopers, this experience is just getting started.

I don't want to spoil too much for you, but on our way to a prison interrogation room we're rescued by the Resistance. During the escape you'll encounter Kylo Ren and danger around every turn. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance incorporates trackless ride vehicles, advanced animatronics, unique special effects that have never been seen on a ride before and massive sets that make it feel like you're really in your own Star Wars movie. This is one of those attractions where even after a dozen rides on it, you'll still be finding new elements you hadn't noticed.

Guests are already calling this the greatest theme park attraction of all time, and word is spreading fast about this can't miss experience. Walt Disney World has created a special Boarding Pass reservation system for the first few weeks of the ride's operation that makes it easy to reserve your place in line virtually, using the My Disney Experience app. While you wait for your Boarding Group to be called you can explore other areas of Disney's Hollywood Studios. The demand for this exciting new attraction will be high and Boarding Passes are limited, so be sure to reserve yours early, as soon as you arrive to the park!

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance joins the other attraction in the land, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, where you can pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy yourself. Both of these amazing rides, as well as out of this world dining, shopping and interactive elements make up the massive Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, one of the most immersive theme park lands in the world! As Rey of the Resistance would say, welcome to the cause.
