The release of the all-new Lion King film is almost here, which means the excitement at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park is only continuing to grow! With a new scavenger hunt, a way for guests to help Protect the Pride, and even more new Lion King merchandise, let’s go over everything Lion King that you can look forward to in the park this week.
The Lion King Scavenger Hunt
Starting on July 19, 2019, along with the release of the new Lion King film, guests can experience a new scavenger hunt in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! This scavenger hunt is themed to The Lion King and can be found in the Africa area of the park. Some of the character from the film will be hidden around Harambe Village, and for every character you find you’ll add the corresponding sticker to your map! Maps are available at Discovery Trading Company, Island Mercantile, Mombasa Marketplace, and Outpost. Once you’ve completed your hunt, return the map to Mombasa Marketplace in Harambe or The Outpost Shop in the Oasis before September 28, 2019 for a savanna surprise!
New Lion King Merchandise
On the day of the film’s release Disney’s Animal Kingdom will also drop some new Lion King merchandise for guests in the park. A new Dooney & Bourke collection featuring Nala, Pumba, Timon, and Simba will be available at Mombasa Marketplace and Discovery Trading Company. This wild new pattern collection will include a crossbody, a satchel, and a tote! As for other new merchandise offerings, guests can keep an eye out for Simba-inspired hat, cute new Big Feet Simba and Nala Plush, an array of new shirt designs, and so much more. All of these new products can be found starting July 19, 2019 in Island Mercantile, Discovery Trading Company, and Mombasa Marketplace.
Protect the Pride
Disney’s making it easier than ever for guests to help Protect the Pride while visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom! For every guest who rides the Kilimanjaro Safaris during the opening week of the new The Lion King film, the Disney Conservation Fund will donate $2 to the Wildlife Conservation Network’s Lion Recovery Fund in efforts to help double the number of lions across Africa by 2050. So, if you’re visiting Walt Disney World from July 19, 2019 until July 25, 2019, don’t forget to do your part and ride the Kilimanjaro Safaris as much as you can! The Disney Conservation Fund will donate up to $350,000, so be sure to spread the word about this ROARriffic cause.
As you can see, it’s a great week to by wild at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. In addition to these new announcements, there’s still plenty of The Lion King themed activities happening around the park this summer. Be a part of the Hakuna Matata Dance Party, watch the Festival of the Lion King, or grab some Lion King themed snacks around the park! And don’t forget to catch the all-new The Lion King film in theaters starting July 19, 2019.
