Shadows might lurk in the corners at Universal Orlando during Halloween Horror Nights but you can still find something sweet in the most of the frights. In fact, this year’s scare fest invites you to try several new treats, many of which were inspired by Stranger Things as well as some savory dishes, fun drinks and more. Here are the top eats at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights 2018:
The classic dessert can be found at San Francisco Bakery. It comes with not one but two waffles, fresh strawberries, strawberry sauce and whipped cream. There is nothing sinister about this dessert but thanks to the red strawberry sauce it fits right into HHN 2018.
Also available at the San Francisco Bakery is the sweet Bananas Foster. This dessert also comes with two waffles with banana cream cheese and hazelnut spread, topped with raisins, walnuts, whipped cream and a bananas foster sauce.
Triple Decker Extravaganza
Stranger Things fans will recognize this inspired treat. The Triple Decker Extravaganza at San Francisco Bakery comes with three waffles filled with layers of whipped cream, chocolate, peanut butter morsels and jelly beans.
Fudge Dipped Waffle on a Stick
This treat is a great one on the go. Now you can enjoy something sweet amidst the horror with the Fudge Dipped Waffle on a Stick from Benny’s Burgers in the New York Area. The snack is just as it sounds and can be topped with peanuts or sprinkles.
Waffle Ice Cream Pocket Sundae
When you combine waffles and ice cream you have something magical. That something is the Waffle Ice Cream Pocket Sundae from Louie’s Gelato Window. The ultimate ice cream sandwich comes with 2 chocolate chip waffles and is stuffed with strawberry ice cream. Round out the decadence with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, sprinkles, chopped peanuts and a cherry.
Christmas Tree Light Cupcakes
Another nod to Stranger Things is the Christmas Tree Light Cupcakes. These chocolate cupcakes are topped high with white frosting and chocolate drizzle with jelly beans to look like Christmas lights.
11 Mini Donuts
End your sweet journey with the 11 mini donuts covered in drizzles of red frosting that look like blood. Choose from powdered sugar or cinnamon.
For something more savory, stop by Benny’s Burgers, named after the diner in season one of Stranger Things in the New York area of the park. Here you can fuel up with cheeseburgers, hamburgers, and chicken sandwiches, served with fries.
Mel’s Drive-In will serve up the Fiery Onion Ring Burger. Richter’s in San Francisco will spice things up with the Chili Garlic Chicken Sandwich and the Pizza Fries will please at KidZone Pizza Company.
Wash it all down with a refreshing drink. This year, Halloween Horror Nights is serving three signature drinks, which come in uniquely designed souvenir cups with the twisty straw. They include:
Totally L.I.T. (Long Island Iced Tea) – Vodka, tequila, gin, rum with triple sec, lime, sour and Coca-Cola
Wicked Rad Punch – Blueberry vodka, raspberry vodka, triple sec, lemonade and grenadine
Gnarly Twist – A perfect sweet and sour combo of both the Wicked Rad Punch and Totally L.I.T.
The signature drinks are available at drink tents throughout Universal Studios. There is also a variety of beer and wine.
There are two non-alcoholic frozen beverages - The Syrup & Waffles, which was also inspired by Stranger Things. It is a tasty blend of flavors and even has a tiny waffle on top. The other is a Candy Corn drink with toasted marshmallow, candy corn flavor and topped with whipped cream with sprinkles. Both drinks can be found at the Gramercy Popcorn stand in the New York area and the food and drink stand near the front of the park.
As you leave HHN make sure you swing by Voodoo Doughnut in Universal CityWalk for the Halloween Horror Nights Tombstone doughnut. It’s a yeast-raised doughnut with raspberry Bavarian cream, cookie crumble dirt and green gas sprinkles.
