It’s been a big week for news at Walt Disney World. We got word that not one, not two, but three exciting Walt Disney World experiences open in the first week of April! With the World’s Most Magical Celebration coming to an end April 1, 2023, we couldn’t think of a better time for these new additions and beloved favorites to make their way to Disney.

Tron Lightcycle / Run
We finally received an opening for Tomorrowland’s newest coaster! Tron Lightcycle / Run opens at Magic Kingdom on April 4, 2023. This attraction originally opened in Shanghai Disneyland with the park on June 6, 2016. At the D23 Expo in 2017, Disney announced that this popular attraction would be joining the Tomorrowland lineup at Walt Disney World. Groundbreaking on this futuristic attraction began in February 2018, so getting this official opening date announcement is a big deal for Disney guests who have been watching its construction progress over the past 5 years!

For those who are ready to jump into the Grid, the backstory of TRON Lightcycle / Run picks up after TRON: Legacy where Kevin Flynn’s son, Sam, has opened another gateway into the digital realm. The first portal Sam created is at the original TRON Lightcycle Power Run in Shanghai Disneyland! Once you enter the ride’s queue at Walt Disney World, you’ll feel that you’ve been transported to the Grid – completely digitized. Guests are a part of Team Blue against the Grid’s Programs, Team Orange. Will you be the first to race through all eight Energy Gates? That’s the goal!

Tron Lightcycle / Run is going to be one of the fastest coasters of any Disney theme park worldwide. Although the attraction doesn’t open to the public until April 4, 2023, Disney has confirmed that Cast Member Previews, Annual Passholder Previews, and Disney Vacation Club Member Previews could be in our future. If you fall in one of these categories, you could be entering the Grid even sooner!

Happily Ever After
With the World’s Most Magical Celebration coming to an end, it’s almost time to say goodbye to Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary nighttime spectacular, Disney Enchanted. This limited-time show will have its last showing on April 2, 2023.

Starting April 3, 2023, Magic Kingdom guests will experience the return of the fan-favorite nighttime spectacular, Happily Ever After! This show will feature the same great anthem you know and love, but will include some new projections down Main Street U.S.A. Disney Enchantment was the first time that Magic Kingdom guests got to experience this type of projection technology on Main Street U.S.A., so this is an exciting addition for the already beloved nighttime show!

EPCOT Forever
Not far from Magic Kingdom, EPCOT will be having a change in nighttime spectaculars in April as well. The final performance of Harmonious will take place on April 2, 2023, and we will see the return of EPCOT Forever for a limited time run starting April 3, 2023. You may remember that last fall at D23 Expo an all-new nighttime spectacular for EPCOT was announced for later in 2023. While this new show is still being brought to life, we get to enjoy a limited-time return of EPCOT Forever!

EPCOT Forever features a stunning display of fireworks, lasers, lighting, and other special effects, plus a soundtrack that will take you on a trip through EPCOT’s history over the past four decades. With EPCOT’s 40th anniversary just a few months ago, we couldn’t think of a better time to bring this beloved nighttime spectacular back!

With so much news for April at Walt Disney World, there’s never been a better time to book that vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth. With so many 2023 announcements made at D23 Expo back in September, we have a feeling this year is going to be one to remember for Disney fans.
