Everywhere else it’s just another Tuesday, but in New Orleans Tuesday, February 25, 2020 is Fat Tuesday! An iconic celebration known around the world, this holiday often leads many Louisianans to Orlando to enjoy their Mardi Gras break at the Most Magical Place on Earth. With so many guests sporting purple, green, and gold this time of the year, it’s no surprise that Walt Disney World is offering some Carnival season-inspired experiences on property this month. Today we’re sharing three ways to celebrate Mardi Gras at Walt Disney World resort!
New Orleans-Style Spread at House of Blues
On the West Side of Disney’s shopping and dining district, guests can find a restaurant and bar that prides itself on delicious New Orleans-style dishes. Offering a Bayou Brunch complete with a New Orleans Jazz Band most weekends, House of Blues Disney Springs is excited to offer an array of cajun dishes for guests to try this Mardi Gras season!
On February 15, 2020 and February 22, 2020, House of Blues will be celebrating Fat Saturdays from 5-9 PM! This event will feature food, drink, and live music from the Brown Bag Brass Band. Some New Orleans tastes that you can look forward to are their Bread Pudding, Bread Bowl Gumbo, Crawfish & Shrimp Etouffee, and Jambalaya!
Parades at Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts
Walt Disney World is home to two New Orleans-inspired resorts, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. One features the beauty of New Orleans’ Garden District through its stately hotel buildings and courtyards, while the other features the fun and vibrant vibes of the French Quarter!
On Mardi Gras day, guests can gather at the resort for a small parade of decorated golf carts! Be sure to yell “Throw me something mister!” as the parade passes you by. After you get your fill of this unique resort parade experience, don’t forget to make your way over to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory for a plate of delicious beignets! For guests 21 and older, the Scat Cat’s Club features Baton Rouge Beignets, which are infused with your choice of Bailey’s, Kaluha, or RumChata.
Carnival-Inspired Sweets in Disney Springs
Two of the most popular dessert spots in Disney Springs are serving up some sweet Mardi Gras treats! Available from February 17, 2020 until March 1, 2020, Sprinkles Cupcakes has the new Bananas Foster Cupcake that’s packed with a rich caramelized banana-infused rum sauce and topped with buttercream and purple, green, and gold sprinkles!
If gelato is more your thing, Vivoli il Gelato has announced their new King Shake. Inspired by a Mardi Gras classic, the King Shake is made with cake gelato and spun with milk. Served with a waffle cone, a cinnamon roll, whipped cream, purple, green, and gold sprinkles, you’ll be asking for seconds of this carnival-inspired dessert!
Tuesday, February 25, 2020 is Mardi Gras day, and thanks to these fun and festive experiences guests from all over can feel the magic that comes with the Carnival Season. If you’re visiting Walt Disney World between February 17, 2020 and March 1, 2020, keep these Mardi Gras-inspired experiences in mind!
