The Ultimate Disney Fan Event – D23 Expo 2019 – is less than three months away, and the excitement for some official theme park updates is building. Every two years at their Disney fan event in Anaheim, CA, Disney announces upcoming news related to films, attractions, resorts and more. In fact, at the last D23 Expo in 2017, exciting projects like the Ratatouille-inspired attraction coming to the France pavilion were announced.
Last week on the Disney Parks Blog, it was teased that big updates on Epcot’s transformation plan will be announced at this year’s D23 Expo. Without revealing too much, here are three aspects of Epcot’s progress that we can look forward to hearing more about!
Reimagining Epcot’s Core
Many of Epcot’s transformation projects have already started. Most recently, inside the main entrance of the park, walls have gone up as Disney works to remove the Leave A Legacy stones found on your way toward Spaceship Earth. We’ve been informed that additional transformation at Epcot’s “core” will be taking place, and it won’t be until the D23 Expo that Disney will reveal more information about these plans! Some new direction is coming to Future World, and specifics of just what is planned will be revealed in less than three months.
Keeping it Classic
Since the beginning of this unique theme park, Epcot’s Future World pavilions each have their own distinct icons. Although these original pavilions have undergone a lot of changes over the past almost 40 years, those pavilions that remain still hold these icons as a part of their identities. As Epcot’s transformation continues, it has been revealed that the park will be adding some vintage details back into the park, including these original icons. With a few additional pavilions coming to Future World, Disney teased that these new pavilions will be receiving their own classic icons to match. More information on these icons should be revealed at the D23 Expo.
What Makes Epcot, Epcot
Epcot is a theme park that is truly one-of-a-kind. In addition to it being a Walt Disney World exclusive, its name was derived from Walt Disney’s dream project: The Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. For almost 40 years, this park has been creating unforgettable memories for millions of guests, and the upcoming changes to the park will hopefully continue this legacy for decades to come! Disney wants to focus the future of this park on what makes Epcot unique, while keeping it fun, family-friendly and timeless. With exciting plans like new films coming to both Future World and World Showcase, and additional dining experiences throughout the park, Epcot will be a whole new adventure for guests.
Walt Disney World resort has been undergoing so many exciting changes over the past few years, and it seems that the transformation is only beginning. As Disney’s Hollywood Studios continues to roll out its new, long-awaited offerings like Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, it seems like Epcot will be next on the list for a major transformation! Only time (and the D23 Expo) will tell what future plans this park holds.
