Have you taken advantage of Walt Disney World’s Extra Magic Hours yet? Are you not exactly sure what Extra Magic Hours are and how you can enjoy them? Best of Orlando is here to help so you can enjoy more magic on your next Walt Disney World vacation!
Extra Magic Hours are a time when Disney guests can enjoy one extra hour before the park opens or after it closes. But this special hour isn’t available to just any Disney guest. You must first book a stay at one of Disney’s many resorts, including Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, Shades of Green Resort and Hilton Orlando Resort. From here enjoying an extra hour of magic is easy!
On select days of the week, Disney resort guests will be able to enter a Disney theme park 1-hour before the park opens or stay in a selected theme park about 2-hours later then the official operating hours. In order to know which park is offering Extra Magic Hours, guests are encouraged to view that day’s park hours.
It is worth mentioning that Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach rarely offer Extra Magic Hours. If they do, it is during the summer months. Last summer Disney made some changes to Extra Magic Hours for July 2014 through March 2015. The changes include most Magic Kingdom evening Extra Magic Hours move to Saturday from Sunday, Epcot’s evening Extra Magic Hours move to Wednesday during the Food & Wine Festival, Disney’s Hollywood Studios evening Extra Magic Hours are still Monday during summer and January 2015 – March 2015 and Animal Kingdom’s morning Extra Magic Hours are spread evenly over Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
So besides a night or two stay at a Disney resort, what else do you need to enjoy Disney’s Extra Magic Hours? A valid admission ticket or MagicBand wristband is required to enter the park, and you must show resort ID or have your MagicBand scanned when entering. If you’re taking advantage of an evening Extra Magic hour, you may be asked to show your Resort ID or scan your MagicBands to enjoy the many rides and attractions.
Now that you have the details of Extra Magic Hours, you’ll want to decide if the morning or evening hours are right for you. How does your family function during the early morning? Will they be able to stay up at night? It’s also important to know what time the parks close to regular guests. Evening Extra Magic Hours are most useful when the parks close early, so your family doesn’t have to stay up super late to take advantage.
We hope you’ll take advantage of Disney’s Extra Magic Hours on your next visit and when you do, look for discounted Walt Disney World tickets right here on Best of Orlando.
