Disney’s Animal Kingdom lit up in a way we’ve never seen before during the special preview of the all-new nighttime show Rivers of Light. The team at Best of Orlando was able to witness a portion of this never-before-seen spectacular and now you will be able to step inside the production in a way no one has ever done before.

The 360-degree video will make you feel as if you are a performer on stage. It allows you to see and almost feel the animals, performers and lights as they dance across the lagoon. This vantage point gives a brand new appreciation for the artistry of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Rivers of Light tells the instinctual story of the bond between earth and spirit. It pays homage to the traditional Asian lantern festivals and the ancient belief that when animals passed from one world to the next they danced in the sky and became beautiful rivers of light.

Rivers of Light to Debut this Summer at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The show uses state-of-the-art projection effects, water screens, magical floating lanterns, live performances, music and shadow puppetry to bring the Rivers of Light to light.

Perhaps one of the more amazing aspects of the show are the four huge animal puppets – an owl, tiger, turtle and elephant, that morph into animal spirits and come to life on the water screens. In the finale, these animals fly out and paint the sky around you like never before.

Rivers of Light is located on the lagoon formed by the Discovery River in between Discovery Island and Expedition Everest. If you can’t make it to the lagoon you will still be able to see the show from a new amphitheatre built in the Asia area of the park.

This is Animal Kingdom’s first nighttime show.

Disney’s River of Light pushed back its debut from April 22 to this summer. Stay tuned for the official release date. To see the incredible show, look for discounted Walt Disney World tickets right here on Best of Orlando.
