The flying roller coaster Manta at SeaWorld Orlando is one of the most thrilling rides in the park. It not only provides intense dips, twists and turns but it lets you experience what it’s like to spin, glide, skim and fly just like a giant stingray. But you don’t have to ride the flying roller coaster to get to know rays and their incredible underwater world. There are several other aquariums and encounters in SeaWorld Orlando that let you watch and interact with the sea creature. Whether you ride Manta or not, guests can take a walk through Manta Aquarium and explore more than 3,000 marine animals – including hundreds of rays in its 10 aquariums, including ones above your head! Since the aquarium is attached to the Manta ride it’s no surprise it is filled with 300 rays with eight species represented including cownose, spotted eagle, roughtail, southern, shark ray, giant guitarfish, White Blotched River rays and Ocellate River rays. For more views of the flying creature travel through the world’s largest, underwater acrylic tunnel and find yourself inches away from stingrays and underwater predators in Shark Encounter. This predator-based aquarium will also give you an up-close look at prehistoric predators like never before. And if you want to do more than just look at these rays head over to SeaWorld Orlando’s Stingray Lagoon and get a real “feel” for the creature. Stingray Lagoon is home to more than 200 rays – some with wingspans up to 5 feet who spend warms days gliding through their habitat’s waters welcoming guests to stick their hands into the water and feel the creatures velvety skin as they swim by. Here’s a tip: If you’re not getting the attention you want from the rays purchase their food from a nearby stand and watch as they immediately swim up to you when you dip your hand into the water. You can also check out newborn stingrays hiding in the sand in a nearby nursery. SeaWorld Orlando’s animal experts are also always on-hand to answer any questions you may have about the rays.
