Avatar Land comes to life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in new video.

What happens when you get the creative minds of “AVATAR” producer James Cameron, producer Jon Landau, Disney CEO Bob Iger, and Jon Landau and his team of artists and designers at Lightstorm together in one room? You get Pandora from the hit film “AVATAR” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

When the group of creative geniuses sat down together to walk through the progress of the land that is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we were taken inside their creative process. In doing so we were treated to a sneak peek at the new land, Pandora and all of the wonderful things, including, bioluminescent forest, a light up walk way and more that will be inhabiting the mystical land.

During a meeting together Jim said, “I think one of the things that people loved about the movie is that they felt as if they had visited Pandora… now, thanks to Disney’s amazing Imagineers, people are going to truly experience Pandora firsthand. From the details in the plants to the production and design, extraordinary thought and care has gone into this entire world. The teams have really created something special, and it’s not going to be like anything else.”

The “AVATAR” project will be unlike anything Disney guests have seen before, as well as unlike anything Disney Imagineers have dreamed up before. In addition to the jungle, floating mountains and walk-up lighting path seen in the sneak peek video, Cameron has promised animatronic Na’vi, floating mountains, soaring banshees as well as several other rides and attractions.

“Since we first broke ground last year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’ve been looking forward to welcoming guests into Pandora, the mythical land based on the blockbuster film ‘Avatar,” wrote Bruce Vaughn, Walt Disney Imagineering’s chief creative executive in a Disney blog. “We’re having a lot of fun dreaming up ways to bring to life the land’s iconic elements from the magnificent floating mountains to the interactive bioluminescent forest, and even to the soaring banshees.”

Stay tuned for more details about the new Avatar land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Pandora is expected to open in 2017, with the next Avatar sequel hitting theaters that same year.
