ZooTampa at Lowry Park is focused on connecting people with the earth. By creating the highest quality habitats and focusing on conservation, the zoo is the perfect place the whole family can enjoy. With over 800,000 annual guests and five Certificate of Excellence awards from TripAdvisor, it’s no wonder!
ZooTampa at Lowry Park is home to extremely impressive habitats, showcasing a diverse collection of endangered and vulnerable species that are suited for Central Florida’s climate. A trip through Safari Africa and Ituri Forest puts you up close with African penguins, cheetahs, white rhinos, curious meerkats, elephants, zebras, and giraffes to name just a few. Families come first at Wallaroo Station with interactive areas and a chance to see koalas, pygmy goats, wallabies, flying fox bats and more. If you want to see leopards, Komodo dragons, bears, and tigers, then Asian Gardens is the place for you. It’s all monkey business at Primate World, where chimpanzees, orangutans, and other primates live in their own playground.
Birds of Prey will let you see bald eagles, condors, hawks and various types of owls. Meanwhile, the Free Flight Aviaries are where you’re going to see several beautiful birds fly overhead, like the boat-billed heron and ibis as just two of the over 50 different species in this area. Plus, you’ll learn plenty about indigenous creatures of the state in two specific areas. American alligators, Florida panthers, stingrays, Key deer and more await you at the Florida Boardwalk.
Dinos Alive!
ZooTampa is bringing pre-historic experiences for a limited time that connects modern day wildlife with dinosaurs from pre-historic history! When visiting during this special event, guests will be able to come face-to-face with animated, larger-than-life dinosaurs like the T-Rex and the Stegosaurus. Guests will also be able to go on adventures that include traveling through time to discover species not seen for millions of years, dig for dinosaur fossils in the Dino Dig activity, and learn more about wildlife conservation while exploring the paths within ZooTampa. Make sure to check out this exciting dinosaur adventure before it goes extinct on September 7th!
Live Interaction
While seeing the animals is great, being able to physically interact with them is an unforgettable experience. Safari Africa gives you the chance to touch and feed giraffes, while also getting you up close and personal with many endangered species. Pet goats, walk with wallabies and interact with Bushland Budgies in the free-flight aviary at Wallaroo Station. Everyone in the family will delight with Lorikeet Landing in the Free Flight Aviaries, where the lorikeets will land on you and enjoy some nectar from a small cup you purchase as you hold it. And don’t forget your chance to feel the silky stingrays at Stingray Bay at the Florida Manatee and Aquatic Center.
