About Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
One of the two Disney Water Parks at Walt Disney World ® Resort, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park offers a whirl wind of slides, waves, sun and fun! When the storm-of-all-storms hit Florida, surf board, palm trees, and traveling boats flew through the air, landing right in the middle of Central Florida. The storm continued for days. But, when the rain finally stopped, a tropical land of naturally made beaches, pools, and flowing streams remained, creating what is today known as Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. Poor Miss Tilly, a traveling shrimp boat from Safen Sound, Florida, got stuck in the Typhoon storm and got thrown and stuck at the top of the local Mount Mayday volcano. Still to this day, Miss Tilly’s shrimp boat sits stuck at the top of the volcano, blocking any lava from coming out. Whenever the volcano tries to blow every half hour at this water-wonderland, a whistle is blown and a giant geyser shoots through the air of Miss Tilly’s boat as a reminder to how this park came to be the watery paradise it is now!
Without that mighty typhoon, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park would not be what it is today! Guests can now take advantage of all of the water slides, wave pools, and fun to be had. Grab your friends and family and head to the three watery-coasters of Crush ‘n’ Gusher. Or ride along the water slides of Mayday Falls, Gangplank Falls, Humunga Kowabunga, Kellhaul Falls, and the Storm Slides. If you are looking for even more adventure, head to the Shark Reef to snorkel with real sharks, colorful fish, and stingrays. Kids will love the play area of Ketchakiddee Creek, where they have their very own water wonderland of kid-sized slides and pools, just for them!
Life at Typhoon Lagoon is a day at the beach! Catch some waves along the Surf Pool for giant 6-foot waves, white sand beaches, and sun. Surfing lessons are, even, offered at the Surf Pool in the AM before the park opens! Or, float your worries away in the lazy river of Castaway Creek.
This is one storm you will want to get caught up in! Head to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park for a day filled with fun, sun, slides, waves, and more!
