Universal Orlando has dubbed 2012 “the year to be here” and with that statement comes many changes to several of the Orlando theme park’s shows, rides and attractions, including some changes to the popular Blue Man Group at Universal’s CityWalk.

Since its debut in 2007, Blue Man Group hasn’t undergone any changes, until now. The popular show has been dark for about a month and with an official opening announced, the show is now said to feature a new environment, new music, new technology and new experiences.

“The heart of the show is, and always has been, the Blue Man, and his inquisitive, wide-eyed take on the world,” said Chris Wink, co-founder of the Blue Man Group. “Our team of artists at Blue Man Productions has created fun, even astounding new visual aspects of the show, and our music team has given us a great new sound. We are really excited to incorporate these elements into the show at Universal Orlando Resort.”

Despite the many changes, Blue Man Group still stays true to its roots with its inventive comedy, multimedia theatrics, audience participation and of course, outrageous antics. Not to mention Blue Man Group’s beautiful state-of-the-art stadium. Built exclusively for this one-of-a-kind show, the Sharp Aquos Theater provides a small and intimate atmosphere allowing for every single seat to have an incredible view of the stage and its performers.

In Universal Orlando’s efforts to make 2012 “the year to be here” the Orlando theme park is also planning changes to several other popular rides and attractions to lure guests to its many parks. The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman at Islands of Adventure is currently being revamped to include new animation that’s so incredible you’ll even be able “to see the threads on Spiderman’s tights.” Plans were also announced for a new interactive parade that will begin in the spring and will include such popular film and television characters as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora & Diego and characters from “Despicable Me” and “Hop.”

Also debuting this spring is a nighttime fireworks and pyrotechnic show that is claimed to be a “cinematic spectacular” showing off 100 years of movie memories.  The new Despicable Me ride will offer a 3D experience where guests can train to be a minion and is also expected to be opening at the park very soon. At CityWalk, where Blue Man Group is housed, a new Hollywood-themed, 36-hole miniature golf course will open this month.
