Since October 1, 2021, Walt Disney World Resort has been celebrating its 50th Anniversary. This golden anniversary came with new experiences that can be found in all four theme parks. From new attractions and anniversary eats to merchandise and Fab 50 statues, there’s a lot of excitement to be found at the Most Magical Place on Earth during this celebration! One of the new anniversary offerings at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is a show, Disney KiteTails.

What is Disney KiteTails?
Disney KiteTails is a unique show experience featuring larger-than-life kites themed to two Disney animated classics. Shows take place daily at the Discovery River Amphitheater near Dinoland U.S.A. Disney KiteTails kicked off with the 50th Anniversary celebration on October 1, 2021 and has been available daily ever since. The show itself is about ten minutes with an interactive twenty-minute pre show at the beginning of each performance.

When Can I Catch A Disney KiteTails Show?
This show takes place six times a day with performances starting at 11:15 AM. Current daily showtimes for Disney KiteTails are 11:15 AM, 12:15 PM, 1:15 PM, 3:15 PM, 4:15 PM, and 5:15 PM. Since the show does take place outside, it is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. The best way to get up-to-date information on showtimes for Disney KiteTails is through the My Disney Experience app.

Which Characters Will I See in Disney KiteTails?
Since Disney KiteTails has two different shows, you have the opportunity to see larger-than-life kites from either The Lion King or The Jungle Book. For The Lion King show, you can keep an eye out for young Simba, Zazu, Pumba, and adult Simba. For The Jungle Book show you’ll see Baloo and King Louie. While both shows usually run each day, Disney currently isn’t releasing which version of the show is taking place at each showtime – so each show experience is a surprise!

As for the pre show portion, this twenty-minute segment features puppets, smaller kites, and windcatchers based on aquatic characters from both The Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo. So guests can expect to see characters like Flounder, Sebastian, Crush, Squirt, and Mr. Ray if they make time to attend the pre show before the performance begins.

Where Should I Sit For Disney KiteTails?
There are two main areas of the Discovery River Amphitheater that guests can occupy for the show: the Dinoland U.S.A. area and the Asia area. For the best views of the entire performance, complete with smaller puppets on land, you’ll want to sit in the Dinoland U.S.A. area of the amphitheater. Guests who sit in this area may also be called on to participate with Turtle Parade before the show begins. The Asia seating area puts guests closer to the landing pad for these larger-than-life puppets, so if you’re looking for a better view of that action you’ll want to sit over there.

Whether you end up seeing the Lion King version, the Jungle Book version, or both, this 50th anniversary show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is worth experiencing at least once on your next Walt Disney World vacation! There are so many unique limited-time offerings for the World’s Most Magical Celebration, that there’s never been a better time to book that trip to Disney.
