Downtown Disney opens a new parking garage.

In addition to the new shops, restaurants and entertainment options coming to Downtown Disney as a part of Disney Springs, visitors will soon be able to use the complex’s first parking garage. As the complex continues to double its number of dining, shopping and entertainment options, parking has become especially difficult. Disney hopes to alleviate some of that difficulty with the partial opening of a parking garage on November 20.

The new project includes not one but two parking garages with 6,000 spaces. The additions will also include pedestrian bridges, the widening of Buena Vista Drive with bus lanes, and an extension off an I-4 exit ramp that will lead directly into the garage, all of which will help make your visit to Disney Springs smooth and less congested.

The garage has five levels with approximately 4,000 parking spaces. On Thursday, November 20, the first through fourth levels will be partly open with about 1,700 spaces available. That number will increase in December when nearly 3,000 spaces open.

Those spaces will be more than helpful around the holidays and as Disney Springs begins opening their shops, which include everything from The Art of Shaving to BabyCakes as well as The Merchandise Co Op, which will occupy the space that was formerly Team Mickey. The shop within shops will showcase new and innovative Disney retail concepts and specialty products. The new spaces will include Beautifully Disney, a beauty store; Cherry Tree Lane, where you can shop for accessories; D-Tech on Demand, an electronic accessories shop; The Trophy Room, a vintage inspired, lifestyle sports apparel store; Centerpiece, a home store and Zoey and Pickles, a girls’ destination shop.

Restaurants in the new district will range from upscale restaurants like Iron Chef star Masaharu Morimoto’s Morimoto Asia; The Boathouse, a new concept from the same people who brought you Rainforest Café and T-Rex Cafe; STK, a modern steakhouse; and The Edison, a Los Angeles-based restaurant to Food Truck Park, which is currently open at Downtown Disney and offers dishes from four food trucks.

The opening dates for Disney Springs are as follows:
  • The Landing, which is set along the waterfront and features nationally known restaurateurs will open in early 2015
  • The Town Center, which is where you will be able to enjoy Disney Springs shopping and more dining will open in 2016
Stay tuned for more details on Disney Springs construction as well as the completion of the two parking garages. In the meantime you can begin enjoying more parking at Downtown Disney starting tomorrow!
