The Morocco Pavilion at Walt Disney World’s ® Epcot ® is about to get a little spicier when the new Spice Road Table opens in 2014. The new Morrocan dining experience will be the third restaurant in the Morocco Pavilion, joining Tangierine Café and Restaurant Marrakesh, but it already sounds to be the most authentic and charming! Inspired by the outdoor cafes along the Mediterranean, Spice Road Table will feature a whitewashed façade accented in icy shades of blue from the famous “Blue City” of Chefchaouen in Morocco’s Rif Mountains. And to make guests feel like they’re roaming the streets of a real Moroccan city, Spice Road Table will also offer a collection of shops in the style of a Moroccan “souk,” or marketplace. The “souk” stretches along the front of the building, and guests will be able to enjoy henna tattoo’s while they wait for their meal as well as shop ingredients and spices from the dishes served at the restaurant. As far as the actual restaurant goes, Spice Road Table will feature 120 outdoor terrace seats, with 60 cozy booths inside. Moroccan light fixtures, tile work, tapestries and art representing Morocco’s Berber tribes will make up the gorgeous décor of the new dining area. Couple that with a wide selection of flavors and cocktails from different regions of Morocco including small plates like zesty harissa chicken drumettes; a Mediterranean omelet with sausage, potatoes and caramelized onions; mussels with preserved lemons and tomato sauce backed in an earthenware tagine pot; Moroccan merguez sausage with a fresh tomato salad and garlicky jumbo shrimp in a spicy chile pepper sauce and you have a family dining experience that will put you right inside Morocco without ever leaving Florida! And the food and fun doesn’t stop there either. Spice Road’s delicious fare will also be served at a walk-up window bar to the left of the Morocco pavilion. The bar will offer a taste of what’s inside the restaurant with beverages, cocktails, wines and pastries. This window will replace the current Morocco pastries kiosk. Spice Road Table is also the fifth Epcot ® restaurant to offer a view of the World Showcase Lagoon. Along with United Kingdom’s Rose and Crown Restaurant, and its Yorkshire County Fish shop and Mexico’s La Hacienda de San Angel and La Cantina de San Angel, Spice Road Table will give diners gorgeous views of the Lagoon as well as the nighttime show IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.
