This month marks the opening of an all-new attraction in the Chinese Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway becomes the Feature Presentation, replacing the previous tenant and opening day attraction, The Great Movie Ride. While some fans are excited for something new and others are wishing their way back to yesteryear, one fact still remains. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be the very first major ride-through attraction to star the Big Cheese and all of his friends!

To celebrate the opening of this innovative new attraction, we’re sharing five quick facts about Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

2 ½ D Technology
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway promises a whole lot of “new” in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with one major “new” being the technology to bring this attraction to life! This new ride features an experience that Imagineers are calling “2 ½ D” which will have guests feeling like they’ve jumped right into the cartoon with no 3D glasses required.

Fun For Everyone
Unlike most new attractions, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway doesn’t have any height restrictions. This means that everyone in the family can experience this new Walt Disney World first together!

Hidden Mickeys
In an attraction all about Mickey Mouse, you’re sure to find a Hidden Mickey or two, right? When you finally board this new attraction, keep your eyes peeled! According to Disney, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway features more Hidden Mickeys than any other Disney attraction or themed area in the world.

FastPass+ Friendly
While some of the recent attraction additions in Disney’s Hollywood Studios did not immediately feature FastPass+ reservations, this is not the case for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. FastPass+ reservations for the attraction’s opening day, March 4, 2020, and beyond are officially available on My Disney Experience and they are going fast!

Award-Winning Inspiration
This new attraction’s story “Runaway Railway” is based on the award-winning Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts featured on Disney+ and Disney Channel. In fact, leading up to the opening of the attraction an ongoing movie poster series released on the Disney Parks Blog highlighting other Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts!

As you can see, the excitement from Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ 30th anniversary is continuing well into the new year. In addition to the park’s existing big thrills and new lands themed to some of your favorite movie franchises, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway fits perfectly into the lineup of exciting attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway officially opens on March 4, 2020, so don’t forget to stop by the Chinese Theater on your next Disney vacation to experience it for yourself.
