So what did the BestofOrlando crew do the first day of Summer? That’s easy Wet’n Wild on International Drive, basically across the street from Universal Orlando. In fact, to show you just how incredible Wet’n Wild was on that first day of summer, let us reminisce on what rides and attractions were getting the most attention.

Here’s what we found:

Der Stuka –If you can believe it, the most thrilling and daring ride at Wet’n Wild was also jam-packed on the first day of summer. That’s because this ride is almost like a rite of passage for dare-devils. Situated 6 stories up, as you can see by the video, this speed slide has guests lying flat on their back with arms wrapped over their chest as they are pushed down a 250-foot, almost vertical drop to the bottom. It’s intense, scary and one you’ll want to try again and again! Or next time you run up, try Bomb Bay.

Blastaway Beach – This new area of the water park was packed with families swimming, splashing, sliding and laughing the day away. A sandcastle-themed water park, Blastaway Beach offers over 160 interactive toys and slides plus a whopping 60-foot sandcastle that stands right in the center! The area spans two pools both upper and lower and offers a secluded area with seating when its time to relax under the hot Florida sun.

Wave Pool Surf Lagoon – It’s no wonder Wet’n Wild’s famous wave pool was packed on the first day of summer. The perfect place to lounge, the Wave Pool Surf Lagoon puts visitors in a 17,000-square-foot pool surrounded by a sun deck and lounge chairs. Every few minutes the pool tossles its guests by pumping out 4-foot waves that are just the refreshment and fun you’re looking for as you wade the day away.

Mach 5 – Not quite as intense as Der Stuka, Mach 5 is still a beloved thrill ride that guests can’t seem to get enough of. With intensity levels in between the Der Stuka and the group ride Bubba Tub, it’s no surprise Mach 5 is always a busy ride. Riders will grab a body mat at the beginning of the adventure and slide head first down one of many slides twisting and turning down 1,700-feet.

Disco H20 – We found music lovers flocking to Disco H20 that day. That’s because this unique ride couples the groovy sounds of the 60’s with the thrills Wet’n Wild is known for. This four person tube ride launches guests through a world of awesome tunes and dancing lights as you twist, turn and splish and splash your way to the end.

There is still plenty of time left in summer to enjoy Wet’n Wild’s many water rides. You can find discounted tickets right here on Best of Orlando.
