Dapper Day is an unofficial event hosted every spring and fall at Walt Disney World. Since this is an unofficial event, there is no need to purchase a special ticket. You simply need to arrive at Disney dressed in your most elegant attire. Attendees often bring out their vintage best from classic time periods, but modern attire is also welcome. Dainty Disney Bounds are another a popular option. Now kick up your heels, and let us help you plan your weekend for the most extravagant Dapper Day experience.

When to Go
Dapper Day will kick off with a cocktail event at the Paddlefish at Disney Springs on November 16th. The festivities will continue on to Animal Kingdom in the morning and Magic Kingdom in the evening on November 17th. The weekend will end with a day at Epcot on November 18th. If you would prefer to simply attend one day, I would suggest November 17th at Magic Kingdom -- this is the most popular date and venue of the weekend.

What to Wear and Bring
Hats are a great way to stand out -- the more ostentatious, the better. Gloves and a parasol are a must to shield your skin from the harsh sun. Make sure to bring Band-Aids, because blisters are common when walking around the parks in nice shoes. Pro tip: bring a pair of matching ballet flats in your purse in case your feet hurt from the heels. You can always slip the heels back on for pictures. Bring face powder and lipstick in your purse for touch ups.

What to Do:
On Friday, meet on the top deck of the Paddlefish from 7 to 10 p.m. for cocktails and mingling. Try an Old Fashioned, Gibson or Champagne Cocktail to get into the dapper mood. You will also be able to shop vintage merchandise during this event.

A group photo will be taken at Animal Kingdom at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. After, I would suggest strolling through Tiger Trail for brightly colored, festive photos. Next, a vintage airstream can be found at the back of the Restaurantosaurus cafe, which perfectly fits the theme.

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, everyone will migrate to Magic Kingdom. Manda Marie Photography will be taking free portraits of guests dressed for the occasion. You may send her a private Facebook message to book a slot, or simply catch her strolling around the park. Manda will be available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. A great photo to take as you’re entering the park is beneath the Main Street Cinema. Last year, a Disney PhotoPass Photographer was there snapping photos, so keep your eye out. Another great spot that fits the theme is in the courtyard to the right of the Town Square Theater. The white picket fences, flowerbeds, and old-fashioned architecture provide a dapper aesthetic.

Between France, the United Kingdom and Italy, you’ll be glad to have an entire Dapper Day at Epcot on Sunday. I would suggest starting your day in France with macarons and mimosas. Then, you can peruse the French gardens with your citrus bubbly. While at Epcot, you have to meet the most dapper character of all, Mary Poppins. She visits the United Kingdom daily for photos. You will need to check the Disney app for times because they are subject to change. Make sure to make one last stop in Italy for photos in front of their potted wildflowers before heading home.

Where to Stay:
There are two Disney resorts with the best theming for Dapper Day: The Grand Floridian and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside. If you choose to stay at the Grand Floridian, I would recommend starting at least one of your days with breakfast at the Grand Floridian Café to try the lobster eggs benedict. Another great feature of the Grand Floridian is that, in the evenings, a pianist plays live music, and Cinderella and Prince Charming are known to make occasional appearances. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside, on the other hand, takes guests back to plantation life. The hotel rooms are all in large white mansions overlooking the river and beds of roses. You’ll leave feeling a proper southern belle. Now that you’re Dapper Day weekend is planned, all that’s left is to pick out your most dashing attire. Don’t forget to bring out the pearls, gloves and parasols!
