Kennedy Space Center guests are getting a new out of this world attraction this month as the Space Center introduces Angry Birds Space Encounter. Visitors will be able to travel to the universe of Angry Birds and experience up to seven interactive exhibits featuring the famous birds.

If you’re unfamiliar with Angry Birds, it is a popular app game that uses little birds as slingshots to knock down buildings, structures, and other animals in order to move onto the next level. Angry Birds started as a simple Apple iOS download for touch screen devices in 2009. It’s popularity prompted developer Rovio Entertainment to design versions for other operating systems and it has evolved to include numerous levels, updates, versions and editions. Thanks to its cheap price and addictive qualities, Angry Birds has been downloaded over 1 billion times!

The intergalactic journey begins when guests enter the Angry Birds wormhole and enter the world of Angry Birds. Once there, you’ll have the opportunity to experience many exhibits including Create Your Own Bird, where guests can make a customized Angry Bird on a computer; Angry Birds Sliding Puzzle, which allows visitors to slide pieces of a puzzle to reveal one of the Angry Bird characters; and Slingshot Target Game, which puts you right into the Angry Birds game by letting you launch small Angry Birds at targets.

The new experience also lets visitors weave their way through the Danger Zone mirror maze and the Red Planet Laser Challenge before moving to the Game Zone area. Families will even be able to take home a souvenir photo with the Angry Birds by selecting an Angry Birds background and standing in front of a green screen for a photo.

Since Angry Birds is rated as one of the most mainstream and popular games out there, Kennedy Space Center is hoping this new exhibit will bring guests in and give them just one more exciting thing to do in Central Florida. And with similar Angry Bird success at an amusement park in Finland, where an entire portion of the park is dedicated to Angry Birds rides and games, we’re betting Angry Birds Space Encounter will fly with guests!

Angry Birds Space Encounter is scheduled to open this month and will be included in regular admission to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
