MagicBands link your photos while you enjoy and scream on rides at Disney World!

Everyone knows that Walt Disney World is all about making memories, but now you can make memories even easier as MagicBands link ride photos automatically to your PhotoPass account, so you can pick and choose your memories in the comforts of your home.

If you don’t have a MagicBand, new touch points have been installed at the photo preview walls at select attractions throughout Walt Disney World. After the ride, you can touch your RFID card to the reader to link the photo to your PhotoPass account. As far as the MagicBands go, your ride photo will be automatically transferred (while you’re on the ride!) to your account to view later, so if you are wearing a MagicBand you won’t need to tap the new PhotoPass preview stations; all your ride photos will be available to view when you get home!

Tap the new PhotoPass preview stations after you ride at Disney World.

Not every Disney World attraction is set up with the touch point features but there are several with the capabilities including Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom; Test Track at Epcot; Rock ‘n Roller Coaster and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios and Dinosaur and Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom.

Prior to MagicBands, when you had your picture taken on a Walt Disney World ride you would gather around the preview area and point and laugh at the silly faces you made plummeting down rides like Splash Mountain. If you decided to purchase a ride photo, then, and only then, were they available to view online, and you needed to purchase it the day the photo was taken. Now, with the new MagicBand PhotoPass option you can see all of those photos in the comfort of your own home and then choose which ones you want.

MagicBands now link ride photos at Walt Disney World.

MagicBands newest photo capabilities will soon be the future of on-ride PhotoPass. In fact, don’t expect video walls to be added to new attractions for this reason. The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train does not offer video wall previews, and only offers MagicBand association of on-ride photos. But for those that do have preview walls check out the work Disney has done to update them. It’s always fun (and sometimes hilarious) to check out your photo after the ride so you can still make sure you take advantage of the new monitor area.
