There has never been a better time to be a vegan visiting Walt Disney World. With new dishes popping up all around the resort, you'll not only have no problem finding delicious vegetarian and vegan meals at nearly every restaurant, but you'll be pleasantly surprised by the variety of new options that are available. Here are 5 incredible vegan dishes at Walt Disney World.
Southwest Beyond Burger at the Magic Kingdom
One of the greatest new food additions to Walt Disney World for vegans in recent years is the Beyond Burger. Now you can enjoy a vegan burger that actually tastes good from most quick service locations! Currently, the Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe even has a specialty version of it on their main menu, and it's called the "Plant-Based Southwest Burger." Ordering it from the menu as-is gets you an entire vegan meal featuring a delicious burger topped with vegan jalapeno jack cheese and an avocado aioli served on a toasted bun. Plus, this dining establishment has a huge toppings bar, so you can load it up with tons of veggies and condiments. It's served with a side of tortilla chips, which pair perfeclty with the endless salsa from the topping bar.
Vegan Bratwurst and Tots at the Magic Kingdom
If you're looking for something a little more unique than a Beyond Burger, head to The Friar's Nook in the Fantasyland area of Magic Kingdom. They recently introduced the Brat and Tots meal. This vegan bratwurst is cooked in real beer, served on a soft vegan pretzel roll and topped with tangy sauerkraut. Slather it in some spicy mustard for the complete package! It's served along side crisp tater tots, which are cooked in their own oil so they remain entirely vegan. Be sure to specify that you'd like the vegan Beyond Sausage version when ordering, so there's no confusion. Enjoy your dish with a frosty LeFou's Brew from the nearby Gaston's Tavern, which is a frozen apple drink topped with passion fruit-mango foam, and is also completely vegan!
Pizzas from PizzeRizzo at Hollywood Studios
PizzeRizzo at Hollywood Studios is a fun place to eat that is run by the friendly New Yorker, Rizzo the Rat, from The Muppets. You can order a couple different pizzas here that can be made with vegan shredded cheese and vegan dough. PizzeRizzo offers both a cheese and veggie pizza option, and the later is topped with sautéed mushrooms, peppers, onions and tomatoes. Other places around the resort to grab a vegan pizza include the amazing Blaze Pizza in Disney Springs and Pizzafari in Disney's Animal Kingdom. You can also order vegan flatbreads from Abracadabar at Disney's BoardWalk and Pinocchio Village Haus at the Magic Kingdom.
Totchos at Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios
Toy Story Land is the newest addition to Disney's Hollywood Studios, and this new land features its very own new restaurant called Woody's Lunch Box. One of the vegan standouts you can order from the new establishment is the Vegan Totchos. You have to specify that would like the vegan version when ordering, but it's not much different than the original. Both start with a big bowl of tater tots, which are then topped with cheese and chili – both vegan in this version – and then a sprinkling of green onions.
Guacamole with Fried Flour "Chicharron" in Epcot
Choza de Margarita opened late last year at the Mexico pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase. In addition to offering incredible margaritas, both frozen and on the rocks, they also have a few snack options available from this food and drink window. The Guacamole with Fried Flour Chicharron is a vegan option featuring a huge helping of freshly prepared guacamole topped with pumpkin seeds and mango chunks. It's served with a handful of fried flour chicharron. Unlike regular chicharron, which is usually made from pork, this version is simply made with flour. The result is a lighter-than-air chip that's perfect for dipping. The dish is drizzled with hot sauce as well, which may be a little too hot for some folks, but you could always request the dish without it, or ask for it on the side if you're unsure.
