We’re back with our weekly Orlando restaurant review. We’re taking you to Colombia today for a Latin meal you won’t forget at Pio Pio Latin Cuisine. Serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner and more; Pio Pio has everything you need for an exquisite Colombian meal, and some dishes you didn’t even know you wanted!
There is really no need to visit multiple restaurants on your Orlando theme park vacation, especially if you love Colombian food. For breakfast Pio Pio wakes you up with their Colombian Big Breakfast, mixed rice and beans, 2 eggs, grilled steak, corn cake, orange juice and coffee or the Simple Breakfast, 2 eggs, Cuban bread, Spanish sausage or grilled steak.
Head back to Pio Pio mid-day for lunch and sink your teeth into one of their mouthwatering sandwiches like the Grilled Chicken or Steak Sandwich. And of course you can’t visit a Cuban restaurant without tasting a Cuban sandwich. Pio Pio’s Cuban sandwich includes ham, shredded pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard and mayo.
You can’t beat dinner at Pio Pio’s either. Specializing in pollo a la braza (rotisserie chicken), Pio Pio has the best chicken you’ll ever taste in Orlando. Whether you’re visiting Pio Pio alone or bringing the entire family, the Latin restaurant serves up chicken dishes that will satisfy the entire family. Our favorites are the Matador Combo, Peruvian style whole Pio Pio chicken, Frankfurters & Fries, Rice & Beans, Plantain and Green Plantain Salad. The Matador Combo serves 4. For a few less people but still the same delicious taste try the Campestre Combo, Peruvian Style, whole Pio Pio chicken, Plantain, Fried Yucca, Salad & Fries. For a chicken dish not quite so large try the Half Rotisserie Chicken with rice & Beans and a side or a Quarter Chicken meal with either dark or white meat.
All of the above dishes are indeed Colombian, but if you want something even more authentic try one of Pio’s Colombian Dishes including the popular Bandeja Paisa, grilled steak, egg sunny side up, pork belly, Spanish sausage, rice, beans, ripe plantain, avocado and corn cake! What’s not to like? There is also the Corn Pie with Steak, grilled steak, corn cake and shredded mozzarella cheese on top; Churrasco Steak, 8-9 oz Skirt steak, rice, salad & fries; or Mixed Rice with Chicken, chunks of chicken, onions, red bell peppers, peas, carrots and green beans.
The specialty dishes don’t stop there. Pio Pio also offers Peruvian Dishes like Chaufa Rice, Peruvian “Chinese” style rice; Papas a la Huancaina, sliced potatoes covered in a spicy cheese sauce served cold; Ceviche, mixed fresh fish and shrimp; Jalea, seasoned seafood sautéed and seared then dipped in flour and dried, served with tomatoes and red onions on a bed of lettuce; and the very popular classic stir-fry dish, Lomo Saltado, marinated flank steak with red onions, tomatoes and French fries.
Pio Pio is located on International Drive by Universal Orlando.
