Busch Gardens Tampa is known for extreme thrill rides, but there's also a softer side to this world-class zoo and theme park. If your family is looking for fun things to do between riding roller coasters – or if not everyone in your party is up for some high-speed thrills – this is the list for you. From gentle rides to unique animal experiences, here are 5 relaxing things to do at Busch Gardens Tampa.
Soaring on the Skyride
Get a bird's eye view of the park from this gentle cable car ride through the sky. Look down from 50 feet up to see animals of the African Serengeti as you glide along above the trees. Not only is the Skyride fun and relaxing; it's also a wonderful form of transportation that can take you between Egypt and the Congo area located all the way on the other side of the park. That could save you a lot of walking. Plus, the cool breeze and shaded canopy are perfect for relaxing on a hot day.
Exploring Animal Paths
Busch Gardens Tampa is home to more than 12,000 animals from 300 different species, and the best way to see them is to explore the many animal paths in each area of the park. Walk through the Edge of Africa to see lions, meerkats, hippos and more along the Serengeti. Check out Kangaloom in Walkabout Way for your chance to feed kangaroos and wallabies. And see Tigers up close inside of Jungala. You can also find a variety of interesting creatures at Animal Connections. Here the Animal Ambassadors offer guests a chance to get up close to interesting animals like sloths and aardvarks.
Catching a Show
When your feet need a break from exploring the animal trails and other experiences around the park, it's the perfect time to take a load off and take in a show! Opening Night Critters is a silly show starring pet rescue animals, Turn It Up! is a brand new show on ice filled with award winning skating, and Push Play! features live music and high energy dancing. For the little ones, BGT also offers Let's Play Together, featuring all of their favorite Sesame Street friends.
Riding the Train
All aboard the Serengeti Express! This train ride through the African Serengeti is one the best ways to take in the animal sights, and without tiring out your feet. Plus, this is one of the best kid-friendly attractions at Busch Gardens. Everyone of all ages can enjoy this train ride through the park. Take in great views of free-roaming herds of giraffes, zebras, ostriches, antelope and more along your journey. With stops in the Congo, Nairobi and Stanleyville, the ride not only offers stunning views, but also can be helpful for traversing the park as well.
Feeding Exotic Birds
Lory Landing is a massive exotic bird aviary located between Stanleyville and Sesame Street. Here you can meet colorful birds like hornbills, pheasants and of course, lorikeets. Lorikeets are brilliantly colored birds that are always happy to fly down and greet you as you enter their lush tropical oasis. Guests are welcome to purchase a small cup of nectar to feed them. It truly is a magical moment to be able to hand-feed the lorikeets, because they will perch right on your hand. Don't forget to have your camera ready!
