America's first dual tailspin water slide is opening March 14th at Adventure Island, Tampa’s premier waterpark located right across the street from Busch Gardens. This record-breaking new family raft slide will offer high thrills as well as a colorful light show that's unlike anything else at Adventure Island.
The water park is heading into its 40th season, and what better way to kick it off than an exciting new water slide. “As a family raft slide, Solar Vortex packs a bigger thrill than I was expecting, "says Brandon Thom, Adventure Island’s new Vice President. "The high speed generated by the tailspin feature really amps up the ride journey. Along with Adventure Island’s many slides, pools, and splash zones, Solar Vortex is sure to make 2020 our best season yet.”
Solar Vortex incorporates high-banking rotations and rapid descents, along with two open tailspin features, and three amazing AquaLucent elements, while sending riders up to speeds of 20 miles per hour. Harnessing the power of the Florida sun, the AquaLucent moments create brilliant patterns of color as the sunlight passes through the slide. It makes for a unique and unforgettable experience you'll want to ride again and again!
Solar Vortex shines brightly near Splash Attack and the Rambling Bayou lazy river. The family-style round rafts holds 2 to 4 riders each, and the ride tower stands at 55 feet tall. It has a minimum height requirement of 42 inches.
Adventure Island opens for the 2020 season on Friday, March 13th. Solar Vortex will open to the public on March 14th, but annual passholders will have a chance to experience this all-new raft slide a day early by presenting their ID and pass at the park entrance.
Adventure Island now offers 10 sliding attractions in total, many with multiple unique routes. The water park also has wave pools and soak zones for guests to enjoy. Be sure to get your tickets to Adventure Island here for the best deals around, and we'll see you in the Solar Vortex!
