The opening date for TRON Lightcycle / Run has been announced, but are you ready to enter the grid? Starting April 4, 2023, guests will be able to experience Tomorrowland’s newest thrill ride! Today we’re sharing four top tips for TRON Lightcycle / Run at Walt Disney World.
A New Locker System
Unlike previous Disney Parks attractions, TRON Lightcycle / Run will have a locker system for guests to store their belongings in while riding the attraction. These lockers are digitized and double-sided, meaning you open them and place your belonging in on one side, and once you exit the ride, you’ll be opening the other side of the same locker to retrieve your items.
Lockers can be opened with your MagicBand, MagicBand+, or a physical park ticket. You’ll tap the circle on an empty locker with your MagicBand or ticket to link it to you. Once open, put your belongings inside, but be sure to hold on to your MagicBand, MagicBand+, or park ticket so you can reopen your locker after you exit the grid! Your Lightcycle does have a small compartment for items the size of a cell phone or smaller, but it’s recommended to put as much as you can in your locker while you ride.
Virtual Queue for Team Blue
On TRON Lightcycle / Run, you’re joining Team Blue to enter the grid. Like most recent attraction openings at Walt Disney World, TRON Lightcycle / Run will have a virtual queue. This means, for now, a standby queue isn’t going to be available. You’ll have to secure a virtual queue boarding group or an individual lightning lane to lock in your opportunity to enter the grid!
In order to attempt to join the virtual queue, you’ll need a valid park ticket and theme park reservation to Magic Kingdom. The first virtual queue drop is at 7 AM EST daily and there’s usually a second drop at 1 PM EST if there are more virtual queue groups available. The virtual queue for TRON Lightcycle / Run will be found on the My Disney Experience app. Make sure your entire party is linked on your profile before the virtual queue opens to make snagging your spot on Team Blue even easier!
Lock in with Individual Lightning Lane
One way to guarantee your entry into the grid is with an Individual Lightning Lane. TRON Lightcycle / Run will not be a part of the Disney Genie+ offerings for Magic Kingdom, but instead an Individual Lightning Lane option when the attraction opens in April. Similar to the virtual queue, guests must have a valid park ticket and theme park reservation to Magic Kingdom to be able to secure an Individual Lightning Lane for TRON Lightcycle / Run.
You’ll want to visit the Disney Genie Service Tip Board on the My Disney Experience app on the morning of your Magic Kingdom day to choose an arrival window and purchase your Individual Lightning Lane for TRON Lightcycle / Run. When new attractions like this join the lineup, their Individual Lightning Lanes go fairly quickly, so you’ll want to prioritize this in the morning on your Magic Kingdom day!
Making Memories
Great news! TRON Lightcycle / Run has both an onboard photo and video available through Disney PhotoPass, making it easier than ever to relive your time in the grid. There are two ways to secure that your Disney PhotoPass photo and video from TRON Lightcycle / Run successfully make it to your My Disney Experience account. The first, is making sure your mobile device is logged into My Disney Experience prior to riding the attraction and storing your mobile device in the small Lightcycle compartment on the ride. The second, is wearing your MagicBand or MagicBand+ on TRON Lightcycle / Run.
If you follow these steps and your media still hasn’t made it to your account, you can always reach out to Disney PhotoPass and they can help you retrieve it from their system! There will also be additional Disney PhotoPass opportunities stationed around the queue of TRON Lightcycle / Run, so if you’re taking advantage of Disney Memory Maker, be sure to keep an eye out for those as well.
Magic Kingdom’s latest coaster is almost here – are you ready? With these top tips for TRON Lightcycle / Run, you’ll be a pro you first time joining Team Blue and entering the grid! Don’t forget to grab your park tickets to Walt Disney World so you can experience this attraction when it opens on April 4, 2023.
